Description

Glendun Lodge, a historic listed building, is a lovely family home set in beautiful gardens just 5 minutes walk away from Cushendun Village and beach in the Glens of Antrim AONB. The house is spacious and comfortable with lots of character and has been the setting for generations of happy family holidays. A perfect place for a relaxed holiday with friends or family, the house has a huge sitting room, open fire, generous bedrooms, modern bathroom and well appointed kitchen. NITB approved. The space Glendun Lodge is a unique place for a holiday. This grade II listed building was once the home of Ada McNeill, founder of the Feis na Gleann, and has been owned by the current family for 60 years. Spacious, comfortable and relaxed this is the perfect place for a holiday with friends and family. It is not full of mod cons, and has no en-suites but does have wifi, efficient heating, tv and plenty of space for those occasional days when an open fire, the papers and a game of monopoly seems like the perfect thing to do ( board games and books provided). Guests have access to the huge gardens and beech woods surrounding the house, a haven for hedgehogs, red squirrels and a multitude of birds. With no light pollution it is an amazing place for stargazing on a clear night. Mary McBrides pub and restaurant, and the shop ( check opening times) are in easy walking distance so wont be totally dependent on a car. The beach is only minutes away along a private footpath. Katy is a keen environmentalist so the house is run as sustainably as possible. Guest access Guests have use of the ground and first floor accessed through the front door. The basement, which is accessed by its own door the back of the house, is private. The owner has a studio in the basement and may be around from time to time though not resident. Other things to note Access to the house is through a narrow gateway. Whilst cars and 4x4's can get through there can be problems with delivery vehicles such as Tescos vans. Beyond the gateway is a long and fairly narrow gravel avenue. Please drive slowly, especially if arriving at night. it can be bumpy and is a hedgehog and squirrel crossing point.
