The renovation has retained the character of a West Coast beach house (rimu board and batten) with wooden windows and French doors throughout. Fully rewired, new plumbing, and insulated to stay cosy in the cooler months. Plus, plenty of on-site parking—including for the boat or jetski if you plan to head to Kai Iwi Lakes. You also get a key to our fabulous cabin on the hill (to the right of the house if you're looking out to sea). Other things to note This is a holiday house rather than a full time residence, so—although professional clean is done after each booking—there may be sea salt on the windows and a few cobwebs outside. Consider it part of Big Tree's beachside charm! If you plan to drive along the beach make sure you drive only two hours either side of low tide, because you can get trapped. Drive on the hard sand, not soft. It's best to swim on the incoming tide—West Coast beaches have big waves and sometimes rips, so take care out there. The life guards are only here over the Christmas / New Year period.
