Brock Lodge is a luxury romantic couples lodge, in a unique location with private woodland gardens, surrounded by nature and just a short walk from Braunton centre with vibrant cafes, restaurants and bars & a short drive from world class beaches and countryside. Listen to our resident owls calling as you sit by the cosy fire pit under a starry night sky. The space Completed in 2020 and built specifically as a holiday let, Brock Lodge has been finished to a very high standard and was nominated for a building excellence and design award. With high ceilings and large windows offering far reaching views of surrounding countryside this contemporary space is cool and tranquil in the summer whilst the underfloor heating will keep you cosy and warm in the winter. Set in a unique and beautiful elevated location on the site of the old village quarry we have our very own rock face full of succulents, alpine flowers, daisies and foxgloves and have returned the gardens sympathetically to complement the surrounding woodland space with a planting scheme including a wildflower meadow, to encourage birds, bees and butterflies. You are simply immersed in nature with beautiful ferns, foxgloves, woodland and tropical flowers and occasional banana palms! Whether gardens and nature are "your thing" or not, you'll be sure to unwind and chill out the minute you arrive. We're definitely a place to step off the treadmill and chill out, but not so remote you can't get decent coffee or cocktails nearby. Huge bi-fold doors opening onto a big private deck, allow you to bring the outside space in. We provide sun loungers and dining table; you'll be surprised how warm this sheltered spot can get all year round! It's a great space for enjoying morning coffee, a BBQ or maybe practice some relaxing yoga. Your stay includes a welcome basket of local and home-made goodies to get you settled in, including freshly baked soda bread and preserves, cereals and milk for your breakfast. We've also made sure to leave you lots of extras like oil & vinegars, spices and great coffee & tea and even marshmallows for the firepit. You can be confident to arrive and find everything you need. For foodies, you have an extremely well equipped kitchen with Nespresso machine, steam oven and big fridge freezer. You can cook special meals here and easily access great local produce in the village, or we have some fantastic restaurants, cafe's and bars just a short walk away. The bathroom is designed to be a luxury space with a powerful waterfall walk in shower, plenty of hot water, fluffy Egyptian cotton towels, bathrobes and to complete the experience we even leave you local Clovelly Soap products. When you arrive after a busy week it washes away all that stress! We’re fortunate to have a great Fibre WiFi speed (a rare thing in Devon!) so why not come and work remotely from our peaceful lodge and combine it with a staycation. We're popular with couples who want a romantic retreat, and have already had a few proposals and honeymoons on site. If you have a special celebration we'll gladly help you set up special surprise arrangements for your arrival. We are reached via a private lane and have plenty of parking right outside the lodge. If you like to walk, there are some incredible walks right from our door. If you are coming to enjoy some outdoor pursuits, we can provide storage for your surfboards, paddleboards or bikes, and also an outdoor cleaning and drying area. We're happy to recommend places to book up your activities if you need any advice. Young families are welcome, and we can provide a travel cot, high chair and baby bath. However, we are unable to gate off stairs and the garden is accessed down 3 wide steps. This is a really unique place and has a special atmosphere of its own. A recent visitor commented that the lodge is "a little piece of paradise"; we hope you'll come and judge for yourself. Guest access Brock Lodge is a complete private space with key safe access. You have a dedicated entrance, sole use of the space and gardens and deck which is completely screened from neighbouring properties. The Lodge is accessed up a full sized stairway with dual hand rails, the takes you to a large deck area where you are then in a completely level stair free living space. The garden is accessed down a 3 further steps. From here the garden is level, and a mix of borders, gravel and grass. There are high banks and slopes on the edge of the garden space which are not fenced off. The garden itself is completely level and a safe space to move around. You can arrive any time from 4pm on check in day. We appreciate if you can let us know approximate arrival times as we may be squeezing in some extra garden maintenance and want to be sure we are well out of the way for your arrival to respect your privacy. We will usually leave rear garden lights on so you can see the outside space if you arrive after dark, but there are always external sensor lights which will make late night arrival easy. Checkout is 10.00am. Other things to note During peak season our local eateries can get very busy. We will provide a list of (in our view) the best places to try and you’d be best to book ahead. The same can be said for local activities such as surf lessons or boat trips. We can recommend some great providers so just message us when you book and we’ll connect you with them. Our check in days are Friday or Monday and If you have any requests to stay for a duration not listed please make contact through our website. We’re keen to maximise bookings for guests wanting popular long weekend or mid week breaks as well as a week away; we hope you can work with us on this arrangement.
