The Fern & Thistle is a magnificent last century villa built on 6,000m2 of private landscaped gardens just north of Balclutha. The property provides the perfect setting to escape from the world whilst you enjoy the extensive gardens or use it as a base to explore the gorgeous Catlins scenic area on our doorstep. Offering WIFI, a private bathroom, free drinks, netflix, a splendid breakfast, barrel sauna & a hot pool under the stars, the Fern & Thistle is Clutha's most sought after accommodation The space Previously used as a premium wedding venue, Lesmagahow features an assortment of picturesque back drops to relax in or explore. Alternatively you may just prefer to soak in the hot pool, enjoy the garden lighting and stare up at the stars. For younger families the property has plenty to offer too, including a enclosed trampoline, swing set, ride on cars, games and plenty of toys. There is also a small public children's playground next door. Each bedroom provides generous space for a queen bed, seating, flat screen TV and a port-a-cot if required. Guest access Guests have access to a private room and bathroom, as well as a dining area with kitchenette facilities. Their is also a drinks station provided to make hot drinks and a bar fridge including free beer, cider and soft drinks. Outside their is a covered veranda and extensive gardens including an undercover hotpool and a 4-6 person barrel sauna. On road parking is available immediately alongside the property or alternatively secure off street parking can be made available for vehicles of any size. During your stay The home is broken into two wings, one for our guests whilst there other houses our young family and cat. Maintaining the property is a full time job so someone is usually always available should you need something. Please note tariff is for ONE bedroom only, although there are up to 3 available by arrangement (See other listings). A splendid continental breakfast is standard with your room or you can upgrade to a magnificent cooked breakfast for only $15p/p. The property is both child and pet friendly. Other things to note There are complimentary cold beverages (including beer and cider) and a commercial grade coffee machine available to all guests. Access to the commercial kitchen can be provided upon request, or their is a convection microwave, BBQ and fridge space available to prepare meals along with plates and cutlery. Laundry facilities including a dryer are available free of charge within reason. The property has a number of child friendly things to do, including a trampoline, swing set, bouncy castle, games library, PS2 and books.
