Hawkesbury Homestead was built in 1883 and stands overlooking the Hawkesbury Valley 10 km from Blenheim, in a peaceful rural setting of 13 private acres. Hawkesbury exudes historic charming ambiance. Enjoy Park like settings, your own amazing swimming pool, full size tennis court, outdoor barbecue and pétanque. 4 bicycles are provided to enjoy biking trails. Many restaurants, wineries, and golf courses are close by. A great base to explore Marlborough and the Sounds, Nelson and Kaikoura Area. The space Hawkesbury Homestead is a two storied semi Georgian Villa, with large rooms and high ceilings. She has been lovingly restored and has 5 bedrooms, with 1 master bedroom downstairs and 4 bedrooms upstairs. Available for Wedding ceremonies and photography. The wedding party can stay in the Homestead and have the ceremony and photographs within the beautiful grounds. The 4 poster master bedroom and bathroom is on the ground floor, which also includes the large lounge, laundry, dining room and kitchen. Upstairs has 4 other bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus an outdoor covered veranda. We accept 8 guests only so if a single person is traveling in the group and needs a separate bedroom, that is available. There is a full-size country kitchen that is well stocked for your convenience and the dining area has a large table that can seat 10. There is plenty of covered outdoor dining space as well. Enjoy sitting on the spacious back veranda, around the oval table, overlooking the pool and court yard, sipping a local Sauvignon Blanc Wine in the afternoon sun. The upstairs veranda is also a lovely place to watch the moon rise or gaze at the stars that shine so bright when there are no city light pollution. Go biking through the vineyards, explore Marlborough and the Sounds, stroll up the valley past the 1840's Cob cottage, play tennis, enjoy a swim or just RELAX! The choice is yours. Guest access The Homestead grounds, gardens, swimming pool and tennis court are all for you to enjoy. Completely private. There is a two story barn located at the back of the property, well away from the Homestead, that guests do not have access to. We have an apartment in the barn we occasionally use. Other things to note There are 4 bicycles, for cycling through the vineyards. There is ample off road parking. In the right season there are apricots, pears, apples, grapefruit, walnuts, lemons and limes available to pick, plus many herbs.
