Located on a working sheep and beef farm in Western Southland, self contained, solar lighting, gas shower, cooker, wood burner and a USB port for phones or tablets. A charming and calming opportunity to seek solitude with your favourite book or spend quality time with family and friends. The space We encourage you to enjoy different activities here on the farm. Simply take a walk and discover our native bush and birdsong. Arrangements can be made for drop off to our local sections of the Te Araroa Trail ,right here on the doorstep. For the more serious tramper, the Hitchin Rail is a great pitstop before or after the amazing Hump Ridge Track. A great place for a Fisherman's Rest after reeling in the 'big one' at the nearby Waiau or Orawia rivers. Guest access Guests are welcome to explore parts of the farm after taking time to read the health and safety guidlines provided. The host can identify any daily hazards that guests need to be aware of. At lambing time which is in September and October, access over the farm is restricted to avoid disturbing ewes and their newborns. With prior arrangement and at a small cost a farm tour is available where you can meet some of our animals and see the working dogs Other things to note Bring your own food. Tea and coffee is provided as well as a cool box with fresh ice packs. There is just the single USB charging hub but if you have several devices that need charged please feel free to ask and you can charge them at the main house. There are no electrical sockets in the hut. Lighting is solar powered and there is gas hot water and a gas stove top for cooking.
