Living in Unique architecture

The multi award-winning house is located in a spectacular location above the old town of Bregenz. High above a creek, flanked by the green slope opposite, the house looks towards the valley. The architecture is sensual, clear and regionally authentic The space Guests stay on the ground floor of our three-storey home. The 60m² apartment accommodates two people and has its own separate entrance and small garden, accessible from the bedroom and living areas. The open plan living- and dining area includes a fully-equipped kitchen; the peaceful bedroom has plenty of storage space; and the comfortable bathroom is equipped with a bath and shower, toilet and washing maschine. The living area and double bedroom combine elegant wood cladding and fine carpentry with floor-to-ceiling glass, seamlessly uniting the understated interior with nature´s changing environment:the verdant surroundings of summer, the snowy quiet of winter, autumn´s varied hues and the blossoms of spring. The house is in an idyllic, quiet location at the foot of Mount Pfänder, admidst sheep and cherry trees and above a small river. Multiple walking and hiking trails pass directly by the house, while the cafes, supermarkets, museums and services of Bregenz are just minutes away by foot. Seven minute walk from the house to town is accompanies by fantastic views ofer Lake Konstanz (also known as Bodensee). The journey takes you past Bregenz´s medieval walls and through its ancient gate, down cobbled streets and into the "Kornmarktplatz", the central square of the town. Right on the Kornmarktplatz are the Kunsthaus (Bregenz´s contemporary art gallery designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor), the 'Landestheater (offering a mix of classic and contemproary work) and the Vorarlberger Museum (showcasing the region´s life, cluture and history). On Tuesdays and Fridays, the square hosts a traditional farmers' market: Vorarlberger mountain cheese, fresh local fruit, and Boden-see fish are just some of the many regional specialties you'll find there. The square is full of cafés, bars and restaurants, offering views of the lively square. From the Kornmarktplatz, it´s just a few minutes walk to the harbour from where you can take boats to many destinations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland (for example to the geman island of Mainau, the city of Konstanz, mediaewal Meersburg, and much more. A ferry leaves for Lindau in Germany, every hour. A stroll along the Bregenz waterfront brings you to the Festspielhaus. This cultural centre is famous for the outdoor operas it presents annually as part of the Bregenz Festival. The spectacular performances take place on a gigant stage which floats of the lake. In 2008 open-air set of Tosca proviedet the backdrop for a scene in the James Bond movie `Qantum on Solace`. The opera changes biannually. In 2013 and 2014 `The Magic Flute"`by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was presented. Puccini´s `Turandot` will occupy the lake stage in 2015 / 2016. 2017 they play Georges Bizets "Carmen" . From the house, it's just a 15 minutes walk to the main train, the bus interchange, and to the valley station of the `Pfänderbahn`- the cable car that takes you to the top of the `Pfänder`. From its summit, at 1064 metres, you can enjoy views fo the picturesque Swill alps, vast Lake Konstanz, and the forests and famland of Bregenzerwald. From the `Pfänder`you can also see survey the Dreiländereck - the three countries - Austria, Germany and Switzerland. We live with our daughter - on the two floors above the ground floor guest apartment. Once you're up there, you don't really want to go down. It's not just the vastness that whispers to you: Stay a little longer!
