Description
Villa Hortensia in Leysin is our personal holiday home, which we occasionally offer to external guests when we are not using it ourselves or making it available to to family and friends. Built in 1900 as a sanatorium, It is a special place that is close to our heart and that we furnished with great care using items sourced from Swiss and regional designers and artists - we trust you to treat it with the same care and respect we do :) The space The apartment has two bedrooms (queen beds 160cm), a home office with an additional double sofa bed, a dining area that can double as working space and a living room with fantastic views extending all the way to the Rhone Valley. The environment is very quiet, ideal for a retreat or to work remotely. There are many beautiful hikes nearby and a free bus to the cable car departs every hour from the station nearby. The office is equipped with a very large drawing table (1 x 2.4m), a comfortable chair, an external screen (LG UltraFine 22'), a quality webcam and a color laser printer. A 120 m2 terrace located on the roof is accessible to all residents of the building - we have an electric barbecue and yoga mats available for guests. Guest access By public transport: the apartment can be easily reached by train ("Leysin-Feydey" station is located just 5 minutes away). By car: you can park by the house using the space right next to the house (left of the main entrance). Other things to note Villa Hortensia was built in 1900 as a luxury private clinic for tuberculosis patients. Residents would typically spend most of their day on the balcony (now living room / dining room area) and their beds would be rolled outside every morning via the French windows. As the discovery of effective medicines to treat tuberculosis marked the decline of Leysin as a health resort, Villa Hortensia was converted into a secondary residence. A delicate renovation was made in 1989 to close the medical galleries located on the south side of the building, combining them with the interior spaces while perfectly preserving the rationalist identity of the building.
