Description
This is our happy place. We come to Knysna to escape the city rat race. Brenton is 15km from town and it's truly worth it for the authentic Knysna experience of being in a log home overlooking indigenous forest. We go on walks to the jetty and spend time on the water and enjoy the slow peaceful pace of life in Lake Brenton. We love the abundance of nature here, especially the buck and birdlife which we view from the terrace. It's the perfect place to unwind. The space This area has several good restaurants so if we don't feel like cooking, we go out to Brenton Blu or to The Bell Tavern. There are also a variety of great places in town - Ile de Pain being one of our favourites. We also frequent Sedgefield Wild Oats market on Saturdays and love to spend time at "River Deck Restaurant" halfway between Knysna and Sedgefield to experience a laid back Garden Route vibe with delicious local comfort food. Knysna plenty to offer in terms of outdoor activities such as hiking, (Drupkelders Hiking Trail or Goukamma Nature reserve) playing golf at Pezula or Semola we mostly enjoy the water related activities which the lagoon has to offer or swimming at Brenton on Sea. Kite surfing is a very popular in the area as well as Blokarting at Buffalo Bay. We also like to go to Knoetzie beach where the famous castles are. Mostly we gravitate to the area closer to home because there is nothing better than putting a bit of fruit out for the birds and sitting on the terrace reading, socializing or relaxing while Loeries and all sorts of birds encircle us overhead. It's also special to wake up to the sound of birds. There are still many bushbuck in the area as Brenton is a protected Nature conservation area. Guests love the tranquility offered by this special part of the Garden Route. We have Wifi as well as a variety of games, books and a Smart TV as well as DVD 's for a bit of light entertainment. Guest access The whole house is available but not the use of the garage or the store room under the house which is for our private family use. There is place to park 3-4 cars in the driveway. If we have a booking for only 2 or 3 guests we may close access to some bedrooms after consulting with the guests as to where they would like to sleep. Other things to note 1.Please be aware that this is a nature conservation area so children must under no circumstances chase buck, bunnies or any wildlife including the frogs and field mice in the garden. Please don't feed the buck bread or pellets or anything besides lettuce and carrots because they are wild animals and bread has and can kill them. Please also drive very slowly so that we can protect the caracul, buck and birds and bunnies from being run over. 2.The house is on 3 levels so there are two flights of stairs incase anyone is elderly or has an injury, illness or condition which makes stairs difficult to climb. 3.There are no shops in Lake Brenton. 4. Self catering means that you are required to supply your own washing powder, dishwashing tabs, loo paper and rubbish bags after the initial supply left for you runs out. This applies more to long term guests, as there is usually enough left for a short term stay.
