The Limehouse Cottage

Just outside the fishing village of Killybegs, with only a five minute walk to Fintra Beach, The Limehouse an ideal coastal getaway. In close proximity to popular sites such as Slieve League, along with the areas rich historical significance, The Limehouse is the perfect tourist destination. Surrounded by a tranquil mountain stream with gushing waterfalls, The Limehouse, paired with its mesmerising landscape, encouages a relaxing & scenic experience, ideal for a stress-free weekend getaway. The space Built originally as a store for the lime that was made in the perfectly preserved limekiln which gives the cottage it's name, it was converted into a dwelling in the 1930's. The cottage is rounded on two sides by a mountain stream it's lush and calming sounds instill a wonderful sense of peace which many of our guests have mentioned. To take full advantage of this unique aspect we built extensive timber decking around the cottage with a picnic/Bar-B-Que area. In summer, the pussy-willow trees on the other bank gently encroach, creating an amazing dappling effect with the suns rays. on the upper part of the site, sluice gates straddle the river. On the ordinance survey map of 1909 this curiosity from a bye-gone era was intended to generate power to a mill which was not completed , however the engineering works fully intact, are testament to the skill involved at the time. total area of the site is two acres. Guest access access to all parts of cottage and reading house. Also wooded park areas with stone picnic benches on this two acre site.
