**BREAKFAST INCLUDED** Looking for an authentic getaway where you can spend part of your trip at a local family’s home sweet home? Mekong Pottery Homestay has been beckoning ardent travelers’ attention since Dec 2019. Our home is a charming hideout based out of Vinh Long which is 3 hours away from Saigon and an hour away from Can Tho Airport. No layover, all you need to do is charter a car or book a ticket with Futa Busline. We’ve made an instruction page to help you navigate easier. The space THE BEDROOM We use brick and terra cotta to bring out the beautiful theme of our homestay. All of the decorative materials are locally sourced from the pottery factories in the region. Let us walk you in on a little secret: Our home is located right at the beginning of Vinh Long Red Kingdom where there are over 1000 factories breathing fire out of the massive kilns for over a century. Planning to make a trip to explore this beautiful kingdom? Rest your worries! We have an online guidebook with pre-made routes and suggested attractions that you can explore on our FREE BICYCLES or RENTAL AUTOMATIC SCOOTERS. We take really good care of our vehicles to assure you have a whale of a time on the road. We have two rooms only at the house. This listing you’re viewing is one out of the two, which has one fluffy Queen bed, a desktop-friendly workspace, a mobile reading lamp, an aroma diffuser to spruce up your space with an enchanting smell all day long, a reading nook with a cushion, indoor flip-flops, bathrobes, and LOTS OF INDOOR PLANTS to improve air quality, reduce stress, improve your sense of well-being, and boost creativity. THE BATHROOM An open-concept bathroom where you can literally meditate in it! Maybe we’re a bit exaggerating such an idea, but our open-space bathroom is one of our favorite things about this homestay. Imagine a fully-stocked washroom with a plethora of tropical exotic plants like a Giant Taro, Devil’s Ivy, and Ficus Pumila Snowflake taking up a corner of your bathroom wall. We partially cover the bathroom with wooden panels to make sure you have enough amount of sunlight to brighten up and ventilate the space without ever feeling too hot in the tropical sun. 2 shower heads (one powered by solar energy – the other one powered by electricity. You can use any of those. We set up 2 to make sure you have both hot and cold water in any kind of weather). Anti-slippery shower floor. Clean towels. Hanging mirrors (one small round in the bathroom + one rectangular full-body mirror in the bedroom). Eco-friendly wheat-straw toothbrushes Branded P/S toothpaste Haircomb Mosquito cream bottles Earplugs for better sleep (or you take them home on the airplane – they are yours now). Hairdryer A laundry bag (We offer laundry service that should get your clothes ready in only half a day). THE PATIO LOOKS OUT TO A SUN-FLOODED GARDEN Books in various languages (for now we’ve recorded English, French, and German), chess, and board games are available at a little library tucked in a corner of the patio looking out to the garden. Outdoor seating for you to hang out with loved ones, complete your unfinished book, kick back on a hammock, and also a designated smoking area with an ashtray available. My mum has put so many quirky creative items to decorate your sun-kissed garden that I’m sure you will love. Even a short stroll around this green oasis will return you with a huge collection of Insta-worthy pictures. Mom loves DIY things so be prepared to be stunned! TOURS, DAY TRIPS, BOAT RIDES, AND LOCAL EXPERIENCES On the work-friendly desk right next to your bed, we place a standee with a QR code. Scan it to open our website where you can find our suggested attractions, things to do, beautiful cycling routes, best food spots, stellar cafes, bars, and a list of curated organized trips for in-house guests. I’ve been working in the tourism industry since 2015 and have been cooperating with the local community and guides to bring you the best authentic experiences in the Mekong Delta. Take a cruise tour traversing the big Mekong River tributary Hop on a rowing boat on a small tourist-free river Marvel at a pottery craftsman with 20 years of experience in molding and polishing pots Visit a local family weaving mats and baskets out of dried water hyacinth for ages Get a taste of freshly-made coconut candy Enjoying hand-picked banana that tastes wayyyy better than a store-bought bunch Those are only a few to be named – so take your time to go over the trips we designed, I'm here if you need anything. Even if you need a hand to plan your vacay to other parts of Vietnam before and after you leave our home, feel free to have me included! It’s my absolute pleasure to be a local companion. I can make a call, give you some advice on how to get there, break the language barrier, or do anything you have in mind really! HOME-COOKED MEAL Vietnam is not short on mouthwatering dishes. But if you ever get tired of those stronghold stables, it’s time to surprise your palate with an authentic home-cooked meal. We have curated a menu of Vietnamese family meals, which is more like an à la carte thing. You mix and match different dishes from soups, salad, fried fritters, pork, fish, tofu, and even vegetarian cuisines up to your liking. Let me know one day in advance. Whether lunch or dinner, each of our dishes is prepared with the mom’s love and passion. She wakes up early in the morning to select the freshest ingredients at a traditional wet market just a few blocks away from our home. As seasons fluctuate, the ripest fruits and vegetables are carefully handpicked, offering generous delights from the fertile land of the Mekong Delta to your and your loved ones. Guest access You'll have full access to the patio/deck, garden, parking lot, kitchen, and our on-site coffee shop. During your stay We live right on the site. Our home is at the front, next to the garden so if you ever need anything, we'll be there to assist! Other things to note Since this is a homestay and our family lives on the site, curfew is applied accordingly. The gate is open from 5:30am to 8pm. No worries, please let us know if you want to get home after 8pm and we'll open the gate for you!
