Description
The Old Forge is a large 4 bedroomed cottage in the marvellous and historic village of Milton Abbas. Unusually, the entire original village is listed as a grade 2*, steeped in history, and designed by the renowned Capability Brown. The local vistas and views are stunning. Our cottage is furnished in a cottagey period style but has all the modern conveniences needed for our modern day lives. The space You are assured of total peace and quiet in this gorgeous village. The clean air and clear skies generally invite one of the best nights sleep you have ever had! Milton Abbas is a hot spot in the local area for tourists, walkers and cyclists. It has quaint traditions including a biannual street party that bring the village back to 18th century roots and attract many thousands to the village! Milton Abbas is within a 10-minute walk from Milton Abbey and Milton Abbey School, This stunning abbey has roots that go back to 935. The grounds designed by Capability Brown are breath taking. There is a very attractive 9 hole golf course. The school hosts an international (classical) music festival every summer. Guest access The entire cottage and garden mural room are at your disposal. All areas of the large garden and woodland. There are several areas for eating al fresco. A wonderful oasis for kids to explore, build dens and generally have a great time. Other things to note Phone signals in the village aren’t great. However the internet is brilliant. We share the garden and due to the enormous amount of maintenance will be out watering and mowing from time to time. The village had been the feature of a BBC series called Pubs Ponds and Power. The program is the first in the series on BBC South. You’ll find it really interesting as a 30 minute history of the village.
