The space Nestled in the middle of a large lush garden with sprawling trees and picturesque scenery, our villa is only a 15 minutes drive from Galle Town, the most well-known coastal city in Southern Sri Lanka. Deliberately designed to provide ample space and relaxed privacy for its guests, this is a newly- restored 18th century two-storied building which offers two large suites, each with a private swimming pool and a bath tub. The main house is surrounded by spacious verandahs opening out onto the terraced garden which gently slopes away from the house. Although hidden away, the ingenious planning of the original 18th century original owner (who's said to be a supplier of material to the Dutch Fortress construction) means that the position of building provides almost a lookout over the surrounding area. This suite -- Village Suite -- is a two roomed unit with a balcony overlooking the village. Surrounding jungle mountains are visible from the pool and faces west. The bedroom is air conditioned. Original old building was sympathetically restored in keeping with the history of this very old building, but with a modern emphasis on comfort, space and connection to nature. In a continuation of its heritage & is decorated with antique furniture from the Dutch period including large four poster beds. Time stands still as you enjoy the peaceful comfort and understated luxury of the rooms and the simple pleasures of being close to nature. Alternatively, Galle Town and the famous Dutch Fortress are easily close enough for exploring, shopping and dining. The popular and renowned Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa beach is only 20 minutes away. (Please note that given its large balconies, staircases, and open swimming pool on the first floor, we regret that it is not able to accept guests with small children for safety reasons.) The famous "The Lighthouse Hotel" -- a masterpiece by the world renown Architect, Geoffrey Bawa -- and the beautiful beach just 10 minutes away.
