Description
Panoramic lake views, 3 bedroom family home set in stunning native garden. The space Our beautiful 3 bedroom home has stunning views overlooking the lakes in Mallacoota. Just a few kilometres to the beach and a 5 minute walk to the lake shore, the house is perfectly positioned for a great lakeside and beach holiday with family and friends. (Please note that our weekly rates are higher over the Christmas and Easter periods.) Mallacoota is unique in that it is landlocked by national park and the ocean. It's a nature-lover's paradise, surrounded by the Croajingalong National Park, the Mallacoota Inlet system of lakes and tributaries, and kilometres of pristine beaches. The house has sweeping views of the lakes from the balcony, dining room and kitchen. There are three bedrooms with queen-sized double beds; upstairs, a double with en-suite; downstairs, another double, a family room with a double bed and bunk-beds, and a bathroom and laundry. All bathrooms have showers (no baths). We also have a cot available. The kitchen is a great place to cook, overlooking the lake. It has all the mod cons - dishwasher, double oven, electric hob, food processor, microwave, espresso coffee machine and separate large fridge and freezers. We have a large gas BBQ downstairs for cooking al fresco. The dining room seats 8 and the lounge room has bi-fold doors that open out onto the large balcony with glass balustrade. We have local TV as well as cable via an Austar set-top-box along with a DVD player and stereo system. The house is wi-fi enabled. The house is surrounded by a stunning Australian native garden designed by the owner, a landscape gardener. The native plants attract an astonishing amount of native birds who delight in the various water features. There is also a salad and herb garden which guests are welcome to harvest during their stay. We are pet and child-friendly although the garden is not fenced in. There is a covered car-port for two cars and more can fit in the driveway. Within walking distance is Buckland’s Boat Hire (no license needed) and from town you can rent boats, kayaks and bicycles. There are, however, two bikes available for guest’s use. The Mallacoota shared pathway for bicycles and pedestrians which incorporates three beautiful sections of boardwalk and four fishing jetties starts below the house on the lake shore and follows the water’s edge into the village (4kms). The village, though small, has two supermarkets, a chemist, two gift shops, a post office, estate agents, surf shops, a hotel and pub and a hardware store, plus three great cafes and a restaurant. There are also three doctors and a paramedic and two petrol stations. Sporting amenities include an 18 hole golf course, three tennis courts, lawn bowls and numerous fishing opportunities in the lake and sea. Mallacoota is all about its stunning lakes, beaches and coastline. There are four beaches; the main beach, Bastion Point, is a magnificent 14km stretch of sandy beach edging the bay with views to Gabo Island and the light house. The next beach, Betka, is ideally suited for families and small children with a large tidal lagoon. Further along is Quarry Beach and then the beautifully secluded Secret Beach, accessible via a bush track. The coastline in this area has the most dramatic rock formations of all colours which can also be viewed from the newly completed coastal walk, a great place for spotting dolphins and whales. We retired 15 years ago from Melbourne to Mallacoota and would love to welcome you to share this beautiful section of the Wilderness Coast. We will provide you with a guest pack full of local information of all the local walks and attractions that this area has to offer. Guest access 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms of our 4 bedroom house are available for our guests.
