Rustic cottage, magnificent setting, amazing views
Description
Centennial Lodge Cottage is located at the foot of magnificent Blue Mountains escarpments in the Kanimbla Valley. It is surrounded by stunning farmland & abundant bird and wildlife. The original settlers cottage has been renovated & is rustic yet very comfortable. Just 15 minutes from Blackheath, (and only accessible from Blackheath) the cottage is totally self contained, with a wood stove and BBQ facilities. A unique rural escape for nature lovers. The space This is a historic rustic cottage set in a truly spectacular rural location. We love it for the morning mists, stunning sunsets, incredible night skies, the kangaroos, the wombats, the birds and the idyllic surrounding horse properties. The cottage is charming and very comfortable - but is also simply furnished, rustic and fairly fragile so we don't allow gatherings or events. There is a terrific wood stove, convection heaters, an electric blanket on the bed and hot water - so it is quite a few steps up from "glamping". We've just added a reverse cycle air conditioning in the bedroom (Sept 2023) which isn't very rustic or historic but will be very welcome on hot summer nights in particular. There is a TV for DVDs but no TV reception and no wifi. There is good mobile phone reception. The kitchen has 2 electric hot plates, a toaster oven & microwave as well as a large fridge. The cottage is on tank water and we hope that guests will take care to help conserve this precious resource. The cottage is set in pretty grounds with an adjacent dam on a 10 hectare property with woods and a creek. The cottage is in the grounds of the main house, but is far enough away and aligned for privacy and to maximise the views. Guest access Guests are welcome to explore all over our 25 acre property - the woods, the fields, the creek and the garden. Guests will be able to enjoy spectacular and virtually private views of Centennial Glen from our land over our creek - only three private properties have access to this Blue Mountains view. We do ask that guests respect our neighbors and that they keep to the roads / farm trails if they are going to explore the rest of the valley on foot. Guests should not enter gates to other properties or drive beyond our gate as the road at this point is private property. Other things to note The cottage is technically on a "farm" and is surrounded by horse and cattle farms. During your stay there may occasionally be noise from tractors / mowers / log splitters during the working day which for farms includes weekends. Our own lawn also needs to be mown / strimmed and we will be as considerate as possible so as not to disturb you if we have to do grounds work during your stay. Registration Details PID-STRA-11519-2
