Sartoria Cavour - Modern Sicilian Elegance in a Former Tailor Shop
Description
The apartment is on the first floor of a building from the early 1900s in the historic center of Palermo. It was a tailor shop that has been redesigned into an apartment. The intervention involved a minimal transformation of the existing spaces, safeguarding the materials and some architectural and decorative elements that recall the memory of the place. The space The former showroom has been transformed into a bright open space where kitchen, dining, and living areas coexist, subtly defined by fixed and movable furnishings. A large original mirror preserves the memory of the space while enhancing natural light and visual depth. The apartment reuses demolition materials to create a new cocciopesto floor enriched with fragments of reclaimed marble, forming a unique handcrafted surface. The apartment includes two bedrooms: one master bedroom with a double bed and walk-in closet, and a second bedroom with two single beds that can be combined. Each room features a desk and fast internet for remote work. There are two separate bathrooms, one with a bathtub and one with a shower. They are both finished with classic Sicilian cement tiles. Guest access Located in the heart of Palermo, the apartment offers soundproof windows that provide a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle, while allowing easy access to explore the historic center on foot. The proximity to the train station, local bus stops and the port makes day trips to the beaches of Mondello and Cefalù simple and convenient, as well boat rides to the Ustica island.
