About the name Blue Bucket: Blue Bucket is a mine that was discovered in 1847 by prospectors who found gold while fishing in a creek near their campsite. They filled two blue buckets, but the metal was so heavy it had to be left behind. Some think the mine was located near the marsh in Lake County while others believe it’s in the mountains. Rest assured, we've implemented thorough measures to ensure your stay remains undisturbed by these natural inhabitants. Altitude sickness is real. In Leadville/ Twin Lakes, the elevation can be up to 10,000 feet. Symptoms can include dizziness and nausea, so please be mindful of this. We cannot offer refunds for guests experiencing altitude sickness. If you anticipate being affected, we recommend obtaining insurance at the time of booking.
