Time has left a precious and valuable strain in this baroque city in the west of Sicily, Modica hides an ancient heart of the most beautiful in the world: the old city of Modica. The house consists in two bedrooms in part in the cave, a bathroom and a spacious living area with a kitchen, from the balcony and the roof terrace you can enjoy a beautiful view over the city and the Baroque church of St. George, patron saint of the City, and St. Peter. You can walk through the narrow and lovely streets or going down a few steps to reach the city center where you can taste the typical chocolate, the best of Sicily, and not only still made according to an ancient Mayan recipe, the delicious Granita (flavor ice drink) and cannoli or find other wonders of the local cuisine. The house is reached by foot, the narrow streets do not allow access to 'car that can be left near the house in (about mt 200) boarding school St. Anne High School. Modica, birthplace of the poet S. Quasimodo, a place where culture and art are mingle, and cobbled winding streets, steps that are on the verge of collapse as overwhelmed by a powerful earthquake or upheaval in the grip of a raging sea that has been suddenly petrified. Patches of lichens cover the walls of the old houses located next to monumental buildings. A mad genius seems to have had fun creating these topographic forms that are quirky and capricious vagaries of nature and man. Here you can visit the more than 100 churches, the castle that overlooks it, follow itineraries in different neighborhoods, visit its churches into the rock. The nearest sea is reachable by car in about 20 minutes and is Sanpieri (also served by public transportation) with the beach of pink sand dunes of "Pisciotto" topped with a decadent furnace resumed several times in the TV drama "Montalbano". Not far from the natural reserve of Vendicari with its wild beaches there is the small and cute Marzamemi built around a noble Tonnara (where you can find a really fresh tuna), for those who prefer the comforts of Marina di Modica, Pozzallo largely equipped and with a very live nightlife. The town has shops, a hospital and railway station. Is close to the most beautiful baroque cities of Sicily, Ragusa, Noto, Scicli, reachable in about an hour from Syracuse. You can also rent a car from Catania (at the airport are almost all companies) or convenient bus that in about an hour and a half will carry you to Modica.
