The space This unique, characterful and spacious flat situated in the up market suburb of Bonnie Doon offers a truly African experience while still being close to the city center of East London, a beautiful coastal town surrounded by breath taking landscapes and beaches. The house is situated on a very large plot, hidden by over a hundred year old trees and a lush garden creating the feeling of living on a farm. Bunnies, hyrax (rock dassies), rabbits, geese, monkeys and ducks are living in the bush close by. The flat is situated in a quiet and secure area, only a 5 min drive from the city center, the Vincent Mall and other shopping facilities and restaurants like Spar, Wimpy, a post office, pharmacy and a bottle store. Only a two minute drive to the famous Nahoon beach and Nahoon Reef where lots of surfing competitions take place during the year. The house is lovingly decorated in an artistic, bohemian-eclectic style throughout. It is furnished with antique and original retro furniture. It has beautiful mosaic floors throughout the flat and on the staircase leading down to the flat, that were done by the host. It has two spacious bedrooms, one with a King Size bed and the other with a two single beds. There is a small toilet and a bathroom with a free standing antique ball and claw bath. The kitchen is fully furnished in retro style, with a large American vintage fridge, gas and electric stove, a micro wave and everything else that is needed to cook a delicious meal. The Hunter's Cottage has as well a large sun room or undercover patio/verandah, serving as a separate entertainment and dining area with an original farmers/ wood stove. All the glass doors open to a wrap around deck. The sun room can also serve as another sleeping area because it does have two two comfortable sleeper couches as well. The flat was build entirely from reclaimed and recycled materials and a lot of thought and love has gone into the construction. It is a space for people who are looking for something very different but still comfortable. Guest access The cottage has its own separate entrance and is very private. A staircase leads down to the large deck with barbecue/braai facilities under old vegetation. Because the house is build on a slope with several levels guests need to be able to climb stairs. Secure parking is available inside a gated area in front of the garage. There are over sixty bird species including crested eagles and little bush bucks living in the surrounding nature. The cottage is ideal for bird watchers and nature photographers. The hosts have created a little pond just below the flat, that can be seen from the wrap around deck. It attracts a lot of bird life and small buck, that come to drink at the pond. The hosts have their own chicken as well. Other things to note We are multilingual and speak English, Afrikaans, Dutch, French and German fluently. There is a swimmingpool, that can be used by the guests on request.
