It has a relaxed and warm feel. The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a microwave, 2-plate stove with small oven and fridge. The fireplace in the lounge allows for cosy winter evenings. La Motte wine estate is the immediate neighbour - its restaurant, art gallery, museum and wine tasting is within walking distance, as are Goederust Farm Kitchen and Bread & Wine restaurant. Franschhoek offers wine tasting, culinary experiences, art galleries and spas. Nelson Mandela statue is close by at the Drakenstein prison and is worth a visit. There are also hikes, mountain biking, trout fishing and horse riding for the energetic in the area. Berry Cottage is an ideal place to experience the many Franschhoek festivals such as the Literary Festival in May, Bastille Day in July, the music festival in October or the Champagne Festival in December.
