Sunny house on Lake Oscawana
Lovely year round house on the shores of Lake Oscawana in Putnam County, just 1h 15m from NYC, and very close to Fahnestock State Park for stunning hikes. The views and tranquility are wonderful, and the house is very cosy. The space 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, sauna, dock, lake front, 3 walls of windows, fully stocked kitchen (everything you could want pots and utensils-wise, plus spices and everything), big deck, and use of 2 paddleboards, 1 kayak, 1 canoe. It is a sunny delight, very quiet and beautiful. One bedroom has a King bed; there are two Queens, and one family room with two Twins and two Trundles. Two bathrooms have bath tubs (one is a claw foot tub) and showers, and two have just showers. Guest access Parking for 2 cars off road (a third can fit if cars are small). 16 min to Cold Spring; 40 min to West Point; 15 min to shopping center at Cortlandt Manor. Other things to note I've been coming to Lake Oscawana with friends for years, and was looking for a house up here for at least 5 years. They don't come up too often, so when I heard that Cayuga Road was for sale, I dropped everything and ran up to see it before it went on the market. I fell in love with it, and put in an offer immediately after seeing it. The house has an incredibly good vibe, so says everyone who comes to stay. It is just a lovely, happy house. Apparently Babe Ruth used to get his hair cut in the front bedroom of the house, which in the 1920s was the barber's place. The views are stunning: it looks across the water to a nature reserve. It's a lovely community, and Cold Spring, which is charming, is a mere 16 minutes away. Amazing hiking, access to the Hudson River, and fun on the lake: what's not to love? Oh, and the claw foot tub in the stone bathroom? That's my favourite room in the house! ;-)
