Our home, nestled among the trees, rests in peaceful seclusion a couple of kilometers from the nearest village. We are Riccardo, Cristina, Lorenzo, Bianca and Alice. We chose to come here, into the woods, to begin living a simple yet fulfilling life, learning from nature. We offer you an attic loft carefully renovated by Riccardo, with a double bed and a sofa bed (both beneath skylights), a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a wide view over the valley. On the mountainside, along the trail to the Sanctuary of Santa Cristina, our home, nestled among chestnuts, birches, hazelnuts and aromatic plants, opens unexpectedly onto the Val d’Ala. Here you feel part of the elements themselves. We witness the quiet power of nature, trying to work with her rather than against her. A wild nature permeates everything around us; it asks for our care and attention and, in return, offers care and inspiration. During your time here, you will have the chance to reunite with nature and seek your own intimate, deep connection with it. Our animals are ever present too, great connoisseurs of the forest and the mountain, true guides and guardians of this place, both physical and energetic. Thank you, Dharma, and thank you, Xiao Xiao: though no longer with us, you continue to accompany and protect Aran. Guest access Arrival on foot only: 2 km of forest trail from Ceres (≈30 min, 250 m elevation gain). Alternatively, when available: 4x4 transfer (€ 20, before 18:30). You will have access to the loft with a kitchenette and private bathroom, plus the balcony. The immediate outdoor areas around the house are private, reserved for our family and Aran’s caretakers. There are many forest nooks and public trails nearby that you are free to explore independently. Among the paths around the house there is also one suitable for mountain bikes. If you are experienced cyclists, you can reach Aran by following the trail that starts from the state road. Other things to note *** Please read the entire listing and the house rules before booking. *** We want to be sure your stay matches your expectations. Our home is isolated in the woods, 250 m above Ceres, the village where you will arrive. Access is via a steep forest path of about 2 km (≈30 minutes if you are fit). Along the way you will slowly immerse yourself in the forest. The path is well marked and easy to follow; we will still send detailed directions, including GPS coordinates and a photo guide. *** Note: if you plan to hike up, we strongly recommend hiking shoes and a backpack, not a trolley or suitcases. In the mountains, dress appropriately and travel light. *** Alternatively, only when available, we can pick you up and drive you up by 4x4 for a € 20 cost contribution. The latest pick up time in Ceres is 18:30. After that we cannot guarantee availability and a supplement may apply. In winter, snow or adverse weather may make the descent by 4x4 impossible. ** Please respect the latest check in at 19:00 and, if you hike up, arrive before dark. ** *** Important: no one can reach our home with a private car. The forest road is private; only owners’ vehicles are legally allowed. The dirt road is demanding and only suitable for 4x4, especially in bad weather. *** *** About the loft *** – Up to 4 guests can stay, but the space was designed for 2. – If you have children, pets or large bags, note that the stairs to the loft are narrow and steep. – Due to the roof shape, the ceiling is low in several spots; the kitchenette and bathroom have full height. – Hot water is heated by a solar panel during daylight; it is fully hot in the late afternoon. – We love natural light; there are no curtains in the loft (except in the bathroom). – The kitchenette has a single induction hob. – We do not have wifi, but mobile coverage is generally present. *** When Cristina or our co hosts are available, we are happy to cook and serve meals in the room (minimum 2 people).
