The Granary, Halgabron, Tintagel

Delightful 17th Century single story barn conversion with sea view, conveniently situated between Tintagel and Boscastle. Lovely sea views. Close to Coast Path, Bossiney beach and just above magical St. Nectan's Glen and Rocky Valley. Very peaceful, with small private garden with shared larger space. Perfect for a relaxing Cornish break at any time of year. Unusually light and airy, but cosy and snug in the winter. The space The Granary has bags of character, with old beams, sloping 3 foot deep walls and a unique carriage front doorway. Although it is called "The Granary', of course it is unlikely that grain would have been kept at this level. Given the obvious original entrances, it was more likely to have served as a carriage or machinery store. It is built of local granite and slate and there is one exposed slate wall in the living room and a roof of graduating sized local slates under a green oak frame. As this is my home-from-home and not a commercial holiday let I have tried to use the best quality furniture, bedding and equipment that I can for comfort snd convenience. This is a little house that somehow seems more spacious than it is, as it is well-planned with many large windows and a relatively high ceiling. The living room is open plan, with a modern kitchen area, large leather sofa and wooden dining table and chairs, plus cosy woodburner. There is a large purpose-built cupboard in the lobby in between the living room and bedroom, with ample hanging space plus storage for ironing board, hoover, outside furniture and other essentials. The bedroom has a kingsize bed with comfy mattress, down duvet and quality bed linen from Seasalt Cornwall. There is a large chest of drawers and two bedside drawer units. There is plenty of room next to the bed for a cot. There is a very efficient shower room between the living room and bedroom. Please note that there is no washing machine or dishwasher. There just isn't the room! Guest access The entire house and grounds. Other things to note The Granary is one of five privately and individually owned adjoining barn conversions set behind the beautiful original farm house at Halgabron. Two of these properties are occasionally let for holidays, including my other two bedroom ‘upside down’ house, Chaffcutter, and the other two are only used by their owners or their families. At busy times of year, especially school holidays, you may have neighbours, but outside these times you may well have the entire place to yourselves. Please note if you have dogs that there are sometimes sheep or cattle in the field behind the house. Please ensure that dogs are kept on a lead within the grounds and, of course!, pick up any poo.
