Ashley Court - twin room

Ashley Court is a grade 2 listed country house situated just South of Tiverton in Devon which is being slowly and lovingly restored by Nigel and Tara. A fascinating glimpse into the past, with many original features which have been untouched since the early 1900's. Set in 18 acres of woodland, fields and formal gardens. The old servants quarters are now guest bedrooms full of charm, and character. An authentic English country house experience. The space The house is an unusually well preserved example of a modest sized Regency Country House complete with Lodge Cottage, stable yards, apple lofts, walled garden and woodland walks. It has been largely unaltered since the main building work was completed in 1805. Currently in a state of genteel grandeur it has a charm and authenticity of its own. If you like to step back in time and see how people lived in previous centuries then this is the place for you to stay. Your 2 room suite consists of 2 single rooms next to each other in the old servant's quarters, with your own exclusive shower room next door, with shower, toilet and basin. This shower room services both single rooms. You will also have use of our morning/dining room for breakfast and for use in the evening. You are free to explore our 18 acres of woodland, gardens and fields, with many places to sit and relax or have a cup of tea in peace! We have other rooms available in the house which are listed separately on the site. Double, en-suite double and family rooms. Guest access Free off road parking is available for the duration of your stay. Within 1 hours drive you can access both Exmoor and Dartmoor, and also reach the North, West and South coasts. Exeter is 20 minutes away. The National Trust property, Knightshayes Park, is 10 minutes away and well worth a visit. If you are driving here, you turn off the A 396 into Ashley, then turn immediately left. Our driveway entrance is straight ahead of you, just to the left of the small gate house cottage. The house is 200 yards up the drive, through the 2 stone pillars. Don't go up the side road to the right of the cottage as this is a dead end. During your stay There is always someone available to help you should you need it and we are very happy to give recommendations for places to visit locally etc. Other than that, please make yourselves at home and enjoy the quiet space and unique historic atmosphere of the house in your own time. Other things to note We have cats, tortoises, sheep, chickens and horses on the property so please take care to close gates behind you to keep them safe. There are areas that are still in progress of renovation so please take care and watch your step especially outside where the cobbled pathways are uneven and can be slippery. There is a small garden pond, unfenced and numerous uneven steps and slopes. We are delighted to welcome families to the house and enjoy the opportunity to show children the way people lived in the 'olden days' however there are no concessions to modern ideas of health and safety so please beware that they will need supervision and it is at your own risk. We provide breakfast which consists of bread/toast with a range of jams, spreads, etc., muesli, cereals, yoghurt, fruit selection, tea/coffee/orange juice. We are very happy to cook eggs of any variety from our free range chickens and also porridge. A cooked vegetarian/vegan breakfast is also available upon request, for an extra charge. You can choose your breakfast options each evening for the following morning. Evening meals are also available with advance notice and subject to availability- these are vegan/vegetarian with most of the food taken from our walled kitchen garden, which we are lovingly restoring!
