Located on 10 acres on the shore, you have the access to the gardens, beach and lawns. Barbecue and relax having lunch or dinner beside your accommodations located above the three car garage. After a short walk there is a public beach with beautiful views. Having been born on Mount Desert Island and brought up there we are familar with the area. I have been a guide on busses that frequent the National Park. This is a special place and our location provides you with the peace and quiet yet minutes to the areas that our guests seek. We also know the areas "off the beaten path" that are interesting. The neighborhood is a quiet residential area at the end of a peninsula. Traffic is at a minimum and many neighbors walk their dogs on the main road. You can escape the heat of the rest of the country as the temperatures are usually in the 70's - 80's during the day and it cools off to the 60's in the night. You can enjoy the night sky watching shooting stars and seeing the moon rise over the ocean. Public transportation is located 10 minutes away. Drive to the free public bus access to all of Mount Desert Islandl. Additionally, the Bar Harbor Airport is located 10 minutes away across from the bus pick up location. During peak times the parking at the popular locations is crowded. We can help you navigate around these concerns. Walking and hiking are popular activities in the park as is the sightseeing. There are ferries to the off shore islands that are also popular places to visit. watch fisherman come ashore after a days fishing off the coast of Maine. We also have many famous families that summer on the island, Fords, Rockefellers, Pulitizers, Martha Stewart, and many more. An incredible place to spend a vacation.... Often guest love to get up early and catch the sunrise from the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. This is the place where the sun first rays touch the USA. Starting this year during the summer months you need reservations to observations for the sunrise as ther is limited space on the top of the mountain. Please visit the Acadia National Park web site before you arrive to secure your reservation. Problem could be uncooperative weather! There are many activities in the area and there is a map of the hiking trails should you wish to do some hiking. There is also public free shuttle service in the park. It is a 10 minute ride by car to the pick up for this free service.
