Amazing, unique apartment, close to centre and sea
Description
If you are looking for something unusual, unique, outlandish....some would say even weird...then read on. Something typically Brighton, and yet unlike anything else either in Brighton or beyond? This could be what you are looking for. However it certainly will NOT be to everyone's taste. So please check the photos very carefully, and read ALL parts of the listing BEFORE requesting to book This apartment is in a vibrant, colourful area of Brighton. Close to the centre and 150m to the beach . The space This is not a regular apartment. Most of the time this space is used for photoshoots, video /film production, art exhibitions and arts events. But between such events there is the opportunity to stay. From the outside the building looks like any other residential house in the street but inside it is completely different. It is a very large mostly single space over two floors forming the ground floor and basement of the building. The lower floor is where photoshoots and video/film production usually take place. The upper level is usually a gallery for art exhibitions and a space for arts events. The two floors are connected by a spectacular totally unique spiral staircase. There are two separate areas , one on each floor. When it is fitted out for overnight accommodation each area has a highly individual, stylish double bed. Please take a good look at all the pictures to get an idea of the place. Not everyone will like it, but some will absolutely LOVE it for its uniqueness, and for the sheer audacity and imagination on display. The decor brings together a number of aesthetic styles including warehouse, industrial, fading baroque grandeur, and urban graffiti/art. It is rough, and raw, and gritty in parts, but with beautiful features and furnishings that will amaze and delight. The specially selected furniture includes vintage theatrical pieces, original antiques, and custom designed hand crafted items. Included in this are 2 antique French beds. In the lower area it's a plush red velvet baroque style bed. In the upper area there is a small-double antique iron bed. Circa 1920's, with erotic Arte Nouveau detailing. Downstairs there is also a chaise longue (quite uncomfortable to be honest, but a great photographic prop), a vintage armchair, and a fabulously fun and (surprisingly comfortable) ornate metal swing seat. There is a large hand crafted table and several more smaller tables providing table seating for 4. Please note, depending on the exact usage prior to any arrival the arrangement of the space and tables may differ from the photos. There is a fully fitted kitchen with cooker, hob, fridge, kettle, toaster etc. Indeed everything you could need to make breakfast or dinner, and all done out in a tongue in cheek quirky, fun, erotic style like you will never have seen before!! There is also a bathroom which is separate to the main space. It is on the lower floor. Access to the bathroom is through one of the sleeping areas. It has a bath/shower and WC,. Fairly basic in style unlike everything else..but clean and practical The apartment has central heating and 24 hour hot water. Important things to note: Absolutely NO SMOKING (There is a terrace to the rear where smoking is allowed). Absolutely NO PARTIES or Events of any Kind. And to this effect guests are not permitted to invite visitors into the apartment without getting express permission in advance. As I have indicated this space is certainly not suitable for everyone. There are access issues with the spiral staircase, and to many people this place will be way outside any expectations they may have. So, it is in my interest, and also in the interests of prospective guests, that I am very choosy about who will be allowed to book. IF YOU WISH TO BOOK please follow the instructions below. Send me a message with your booking request telling me something about yourself/your group MOST IMPORTANTLY confirm you have studied all parts of the listing thoroughly and you are sure the space us suited to your needs, and that there are no access/safety concerns. CONFIRM that you have read and agree to the HOUSE RULES If you do not follow these simple instructions unfortunately your request will be REFUSED. Approximately 70% of booking requests are refused for this reason. If you have any questions please ask. I look forward to hearing from you. Guest access Parking: There is on street pay parking in the area. Most of the nearby parking is limited to 2 or 4 hours. However there is also longer term parking. There are 2 options. The closest is Marine Parade, The seafront road at the bottom of my street. This option is expensive. The cost is from £5 per hour, but free between 8pm and 9am. Cost for 24 hours is about £20. This street gets very busy and you may find it difficult to find a space. A much cheaper option is Freshfield Rd. (BN2 0BJ). The cost is from £1.20 per hour but free between 8pm and 9am. The cost for 24 hours is £6-7. It is generally much easier to find a space to park and is about 5-8 minutes walk from the house. In both cases you can pay by phone so you don't need to return to the car to top up the meter.
