Description

Our 3600 square foot, three story home on the New River was one of the highest occupancy vacation rentals in Boone for years while we lived overseas. There is plenty of space in this large home. Propane gas fuel HVAC system for winter and air conditioning for the summer. Great home for family gatherings. Pets Welcome The space Our home was one of the highest occupancy vacation rentals in our area while we lived overseas . This is a large, three story, 3,600 sq. foot home with a rolling yard with old apple trees that leads into the South Fork of the New River across the quiet lane. We have built a stone walkway down to the river. Our property line extends halfway into the river as well as five acres of wooded mountainside behind the house. We are just steps away from the new Pine Run River Access point, part of the New River Paddle Trail, which makes our location even more desirable. We are also only 7 minutes to downtown Boone down highway 421. We have two large decks and recommend a morning cup of coffee on the main floor deck while rocking in one of our rocking chairs or the porch swing. Perhaps an evening of s'mores at our fire pit or a midnight- moonlit kayak ride. A third, small deck, is off the master bedroom. Dining table can seat 14. The three levels are large and inviting, with plenty of seating area for private conversations as well as large group games. We have a full-sized futon couch on the first floor and a full-sized futon couch in a top floor room that also has bunk beds for kids and a king bed. Additionally, there is one single futon mattress. Therefore, we can easily place 18 in beds. There's ample floor space in each of the bedrooms for small kids in sleeping bags. Therefore, we will allow up to 18 in our home-if two of them are young children. The septic tank is authorized for up to 16 adults. The main floor deck has seating for 16 if you include the rocking chairs and porch swing. There is ample parking in our large driveway. HURRICANE HELENE: Our home sits ABOVE the 500 year flood mark, but the flood waters of Hurricane Helene destroyed the entire first floor with a 4 1/2 foot wall of water. We worked tirelessly for six plus weeks to restore it so the entire first floor is totally new. What was once a large, locked, owners closet is now a cool meditation like room that our oldest says we should call a "Hookah Lounge" (but we don't allow smoking in the house :-)). It has a cool fabric ceiling with this star-like lamp and two futons. It doesn't have a door but has a curtain separating it from the hall--so it's kinda like a third bedroom or kids play room or nap room. Other things to note: There is plenty of parking. Guests can enjoy the unique location to all things Boone! Downtown Boone NC 5.5 miles (easy drive down Highway 421) Appalachian State University-6.5 miles Tweetsie Railroad— 9.5 miles Downtown Blowing Rock-13 miles Blue Ridge Parkway- 4.5 miles Moses Cone- 14miles Brookshire Park—4.5 miles App Ski Mountain— 11 miles Grandfather Mountain- 27 miles. (40 minutes) Booneshine Brewery —4 miles Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park—3 miles Rough Ridge Trailhead—23 miles. (38 minutes) Ski Sugar Mountain—21 miles. (35 minutes) Beech Mountain—28 miles. (52 minutes) Downtown West Jefferson—19.5 miles. (23 minutes) Firewood: All of our properties have fire pits. We do not supply firewood, though there is often some left over from a guest before you or you can gather in the woods surrounding the property. All grocery stores sell bundles for a fair price. Guest access You will have access to the entire home and the five acres the home sits on. This includes the river as our property extends into the river. We have four, one person kayaks and one, two person kayak for you to use as well as multiple tubes. There's also some outdoor play equipment such as a corn hole set, whiffle ball, ping pong table, frisbees, soccer balls, etc. Other things to note We have a no-shoe policy in the house. You are welcome to bring clean "indoor shoes" to wear around the house, bring your own slippers or go barefoot. But because of the yard and the forest around the house and the river, we try to keep our carpets as clean as possible. There is a large basket as you enter the house where you can put your shoes. Pets are welcome as long as you make sure their paws are spectacularly clean when they come in. Pets must be crated if left unattended and absolutely no pets on the furniture or beds.
