The space THE RIAD Dar Karilaan by @lasignaturemarrakech – A Peaceful Retreat in the Heart of the Medina Dar Karilaan, an elegant riad located in a quiet area of the medina, just 5 minutes on foot from the lively Jemaa el Fna Square and Palais Bahia. While centrally located, the riad is away from the hustle and bustle of the medina, offering a peaceful sanctuary perfect for relaxation after a day of exploration. Furnished with locally crafted furniture and decor, the riad blends historic charm with chic and refined design, creating an exotic and welcoming atmosphere. EXCLUSIVITY AND COMFORT The riad is rented for exclusive use to ensure maximum comfort and privacy. It can accommodate up to 7 people, divided into 4 bedrooms with private bathrooms. STAFF AND SERVICES Our staff will be present from 8:00 to 17:00 for breakfast preparation and daily housekeeping included in the price. POOL The riad's pool is a Moroccan craftsmanship gem. Immersed in a serene environment, it offers an ideal place to relax and cool off after the hustle and bustle of the Medina, shaded by towering banana trees. SOCIAL SPACES The living room, equipped kitchen, and the pool are located in the patio. During the winter months, there is a mobile cover, providing shelter from the weather and cold. ELEGANT SUITES The main suite with inlaid ceiling on the first floor boasts a queen-size bed and a bathroom with shower. On the same floor, there is a double room with bathroom and shower. The ground floor offers two bedrooms, one single and one double that can have the beds joined or separated upon request, each with a bathroom with shower. THE TERRACE On the second floor, you can enjoy a large and bright terrace, complete with outdoor furniture and a pergola. Divided over several levels, you will find a lunch-dinner area with a table and another area used as a solarium, boasting a beautiful view of the Medina of Marrakech. STAIRS AND MOBILITY IN RIADS Please note that our riad, like many in the Medina, has several steep and narrow stairs that may be challenging for guests with reduced mobility. Unfortunately, we cannot offer wheelchair accessibility. Guests with mobility issues are encouraged to consider these limitations before booking. Children under 12 are exempt. Not included in the stay price. VIBRANT ATMOSPHERE The Medina is the pulsating heart of Marrakech, with crowded markets, colorful souks, and narrow lively streets. Expect a lively and noisy environment, especially during the day. ACCESS AND MOBILITY The streets of the Medina can be narrow and sometimes uneven. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and being prepared to walk a bit to reach the accommodation, as it is located in a pedestrian area. LOCAL LIFE The Medina is a residential and commercial neighborhood where local daily life unfolds around you. This means you can enjoy an authentic experience, but also that the sounds of everyday life may be present. CLIMATE AND COMFORT Marrakech can be very hot in summer and cool in winter. We have equipped the accommodation with reversible air conditioning to ensure your comfort throughout the year. THE 400 MOSQUES The Medina is home to approximately 400 mosques, and you may hear the call to prayer five times a day. This is part of the charm and local culture of Marrakech, but it is important to be aware as it may be audible from the accommodation. QUIET AND CENTRALLY LOCATED Despite being nestled in the heart of the Medina, our accommodation enjoys a quiet and central location. Just a 5-minute walk from the bustling Jemaa el Fna square, the enchanting Palais Bahia, and the main souks, it offers the convenience of exploring the city's major attractions with ease. Additionally, you can park your car in the secure parking lot opposite the accommodation, ensuring the safety of your vehicle during your stay. Within walking distance, you'll find: The Medina and Souk – 2 minutes on foot Jemaa el Fna Square – 5 minutes on foot Marrakech Museum – 10 minutes on foot Saadian Tombs – 10 minutes on foot Bahia Palace – 8 minutes on foot Enjoy the tranquility of a central yet serene area, with all the major attractions within easy reach. Dar Karilaan is the perfect base to discover Marrakech in comfort and style. SOCIAL INTERACTIONS The Medina is a place of meeting and socializing. We encourage you to interact with the locals and discover their hospitality, but we also remind you to respect their customs and traditions. Guest access All the property is accessible to the guest and rented in exclusive use to enjoy the privacy (except washing machine). Guests not declared in the booking are not permitted, not even for short visits. Not included in the stay price. LUGGAGE STORAGE Guests can store their luggage before check-in or at check-out until 4:00 PM, by prior arrangement. However, please note that access to the riad during luggage storage/retrieval is limited solely to drop-off or pick-up. The use of facilities such as the bathroom, shower, or changing clothes is not permitted during this phase. CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT Guests are required to communicate their arrival time in advance. To ensure the best possible experience for all our guests, early check-in or late check-out are not available. Guests are kindly requested to respect the established check-in and check-out times (check-out by 10:00 AM, check-in from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Check-in is usually available until 9:00 PM. If your flight arrives later than that, please let us know. We’ll be happy to arrange a late check-in with prior notice—no problem at all!) TRANSFERS We offer airport transfers to and from Marrakech airport: For groups up to 4 people: €20. For groups of 5: €25. ADDITIONAL SERVICES Upon request, we arrange traditional Moroccan dinners at €25 per person, private guided tours, cooking classes, excursions, and experiences. MAPS AND NAVIGATION We provide secure nearby parking for self-driving guests. Online maps may not always be accurate in Marrakech, especially in small alleys. Always rely on maps/directions provided by us after booking. CITY TAX In accordance with Moroccan law, a Tourism and Residence Tax of 28 Moroccan Dirham (MAD) per person per night is applicable, or alternatively, €2.50. This tax does not apply to children under 12 years of age. CHILDREN SAFETY AND POOL SUPERVISION We are equipped to accommodate young children with a crib, high chair, etc. However, please note that the patio pool is not childproof. Children must be under adult supervision at all times. EXTRAS (meals, transfers, excursions, city tax) must be paid in CASH ONLY in euros or MAD (1 euro = 11 MAD) upon departure. BOARDING PASSES We inform our kind guests that at the airport in Marrakech for most companies, a paper boarding pass is required.
