Description
This is one of three gites on this property, so if you are travelling single, as a couple, in a family or in a large group - this is the place to be! Set in a spectacular region of chateaux, wine, bike routes, historic, geologic and artistic interest, we have taken pains to renovate the house and adjacent caves into comfortable welcoming spaces, to cuddle up in or take off and explore the region. The space Your entrance hall serves the living room/kitchen, bathroom and wardrobe. There is a beautiful spiral staircase leading up to the two bedrooms under the attic. The master bedroom has an elegantly carved bed, desk and foldable baby bed. The second bedroom has two single beds. We provide towels and sheets. The kitchen has a 2-burner stove and hood, oven, microwave, sink, fridge and freezer, all the appliances you need. There is a sofa bed in the living room, a fireplace with insert and a large table and chairs. The courtyard serves both the Columbe and Alouette cottages, there are tables and chairs and a space for a barbecue grill. The laundry room is a shared access room at street level of this property. Guest access There are two entrances to this property. You can leave your car at the main street and go up the old staircase (steep!) to the courtyard, or you can enter the courtyard directly from the back street - you can bring your luggage this way, then park your car either at your space at the bottom or our parking spaces just across the street. This courtyard serves both the Colombe and Alouette cottages, there are tables and chairs and a space for a barbecue grill. Other things to note The place is very quiet, but there is a railway that runs right behind the houses across the road. We are a little far from that, because the cottages are on the courtyards on the second level, not directly facing the street – and therefore quite protected. There is no visual connection, but you will hear the occasional train when it passes. We have a few bikes that people staying here are invited to borrow, hopefully functional – maintenance, I'm afraid, sometimes exceeds us. If you are interested in canoeing, there is a rental point directly on the Cher, about a ten-minute walk from the house, and they also rent bicycles. I'm working on developing a list of suggestions for places to go, things to do – and of course, restaurants in the neighborhood – and I encourage you to write your own suggestions in the book I keep on site (as well as sending comments on this site and my web page!)
