Peter House - delightful Cotswold stone cottage

Peter House is a delightful, spacious stone cottage sleeping 8 in 4 bedrooms in the centre of the ancient Cotswolds wool town of Northleach. Built in the 19th century to house the chaplain of the church of St Peter & St Paul, hence the name, it is the perfect Cotswolds getaway with a spacious interior and enclosed garden. Northleach has all the amenities you need with local shops including an award winning butchers, a delightful wine bar, the Sherborne Arms, & the well known Wheatsheaf Hotel. The space The living area comprises a cosy living room with 3 sofas and a leather armchair, with a 36" TV and DVD player. There are a number of games and puzzles for a rainy day. There is then a large open plan kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has an Aga which is on from October until April, and a modern electric cooker with a halogen hob. A combination microwave, built in dishwasher, a large fridge/freezer, a toaster and kettle complete the appliances on offer. There is a wide selection of crockery, cutlery, glassware and utensils. Also downstairs can be found a utility room with an automatic washing machine, and the adjacent shower room has a power shower, basin and WC. The back door gives access to an attractive and private garden with a table and chairs for 6. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms: a spacious master bedroom with a king sized bed and a range of fitted wardrobes; a double bedroom with an en-suite with a shower, basin and WC; and 2 twin rooms with two 3' single beds. If required we have 2 travel cots each 120cm x 60cm. I have recently purchased a good quality brand new cot mattress for use in one of the travel cots but guests will need to provide their own quilt/ blankets and sheet. There is then a newly fitted bathroom with a bath and shower over, basin, and WC. This benefits from underfloor heating. Outside there is a patio and private garden with a glass topped table and reclining chairs to seat 6. There is a large charcoal kettle barbecue with tools. Coals and firelighters are not provided but if a previous guests has left some you are welcome to use them. Guest access Peter House is located in the very centre of Northleach. The Green is the smaller of two market places, it contains Castle's award winning butchers and a lovely art gallery/ shop. Connected to the Green is the Market Place. This has a well stocked Budgens convenience store, a bakery which has a wide range of baked goods, sandwiches and groceries; the Sherborne Arms which offers classic pub food and drink; Lynwood and Company, a small but stylish coffee shop selling a range of sandwiches and pastries; the Serenity beauty salon; the Black Cat cafe; a Post Office and gift shop; the Curious Wine Cellar wine bar and cafe; and a well stocked and very helpful pharmacy. A short distance up the road is the Wheatsheaf Hotel which is a very smart upmarket pub and hotel. On the outskirts of Northleach, less than half a mile away, is the Old Prison which has a lovely cafe for lunch, exhibits about the prison, and a collection of old agricultural equipment. There is extensive car parking free of charge in the Market Place and the Green. There are no allocated spaces but parking is not a problem. There are a few buses to Oxford, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Bourton on the Water etc., but they are few and far between and need careful planning. The Oxford to Cheltenham service has recently improved so there is a bus every 2 hours. Access to Northleach is straightforward, being on the junction of the A40 from Cheltenham to Oxford and the A429 Fosse Way which leads to arterial routes to Swindon, London, Bristol and all points south, and to the Cotswolds attractions, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, and Worcester to the North. Other things to note We welcome well behaved dogs, and there is a blanket in the wicker box in the living room if your pup likes to hop up on the sofa. There is a good broadband connection with wifi throughout the house, and good coverage for Vodafone and O2 networks. The EE coverage is weak in the area, but you can use wifi calling within the house.
