Be nurtured by nature, while staying in the beautiful Okuti Valley, just 2 km from Little River. Walk the local tracks or simply sit on the sunny deck and enjoy the bird song and view of the hills. There is plenty of space for children to play. Nearby there are cycle tracks and beautiful beaches suitable for swimming and surfing, and the excellent Little River Cafe and Art Gallery. Breakfast is included in your booking. We are less than an hour's drive from Christchurch Airport. The space You will have the use of two cabins, both newly built and well insulated. Kereru Cabin is a bedroom with a very comfortable queen bed and a loft with 2 floor mattresses; therefore offering a very affordable family stay. Kowhai Cabin is available for you to use as as a living area. It can be adapted for use as a second bedroom for your family or friends upon request at the time of your booking. Between the two cabins is a semi open kitchen area, and a sunny verandah space for relaxing. Two hotplates, a microwave, an electric frypan are provided so you can prepare your own meals. Cooking utensils, a small fridge freezer, a coffee plunger, crockery and cutlery are also provided. Being eco conscious, we use a 3 bin system for recycling, compost and rubbish. The toilet is designed using composting principles (pine shavings instead of water) and the shower uses pure rain water. We provide eco products for use in the bathroom. We have four friendly alpacas who enjoy meeting visitors so you are welcome to feed them with pellets, which we provide. Please note, there is a steep ladder to the loft, so this area would not be suitable for very young children. Instead we can provide a portacot for infants up to 2 years, or a floor mattress beside the queen bed for children for 2- 5 years. A camper van can be accommodated, with an outdoor power point available. Tent sites, by the stream, are also offered. Guest access Guests are free to use all the areas around the cabins, cool off in the stream or walk in our bush and on the tracks nearby. You are also welcome to visit our large organic vegetable garden and orchard by our cottage . Other things to note There is a stream and a large pond on the property so very young children would need to be supervised. We are half way between Christchurch and Akaroa ... about a 50 minute drive to each place.
