A 15th Century Stay in 'Maharani Room'!

This 15th Century Haveli (Hava+Veli – meaning a building having great ventilation) used to be the house of my forefathers one of whom was the teacher to the Maharaja’s Family and the city. The interiors of this building are untouched and are a glimpse into the history of the place. I have tried my best to keep this place intact with its historical essence yet provide modern amenities. Here, you’ll be wedged in time and have the most memorable and historical experience of your life. The space The Place: This 15th century house where you will be living during your stay was built by my forefathers and I’m the 18th Generation of their family residing in this property. My Great-Great-Grandfather rented this place out to the Government to run a school in this place and before that it used be a community hall witnessing a lot of marriages of the local people. The rooftop will give you a mesmerizing view of the magnificent Jain Temples located inside the Fort and also Breath-Taking views of the Sunrise, Sunset & the City in all its essence. You can Sit, Relax & Soak in the environment while watching the city from a different perspective all together. The Room: The room being shown here is one of our special rooms and is called the “Maharani Room”. It is called 'Maharani Room' because in the ancient times, this room used to be the rooms of the ladies in the house. The bed here is a King-size bed and there is a spring-comfort mattress (6 inches thick!) which is great for a rejuvenating sleep. Also, keep in mind that this room is on the 1st floor and it is accessible through a staircase. The room is also a painter’s paradise with numerous murals and paintings done on the wall. There are two windows which look out to the city and one balcony opening up to the courtyard of the Haveli. The bathroom has 24 hours Hot & Cold water along with a shower. A stay here will not only rejuvenate you but also enthrall you with the sheer beauty of the city. The area: My place is situated inside the only living Fort of India. A walk of 150 meters from the main square of the Fort reaches you to my place. Since my place is located inside the lanes of the Fort, you’ll not be able to bring your own vehicle and would have to walk the small distance (Don’t worry, we can send runners for you!). The Jain temples are just 20 steps away from my place and you can witness amazing views of the same from my building.You can take in the ancient history just by walking through the small lanes of the Fort and witness how people are living in it from ages till now with a touch of modernity. Amenities: -The bathroom is having access to 24 hours Hot & Cold water along with all the other modern amenities. -There is high speed internet & WiFi which you can access from the room. -Meals can be served in your room on request. -The comfortable spring mattress is great for a rejuvenating sleep. -The Balcony gives a mesmerizing view of the Jain temple nearby. -Doctor on Call -Guide provided on request Proximity: My place is located inside the Jaisalmer Fort and all the major tourist attractions such as the Old Market called "Bazaar", The "Patwaon ki Haveli", The "Nathmal Ki Haveli", Numerous Jain Temples, The Gadisar Lake and many more things are in a 1km vicinity of my place. The Royal Cenotaphs (Called the "Bada Bagh") & the abandoned villages of "Kuldhara" & "Khaba" which are not only a major tourist attractions but also have a big historical importance to Jaislamer are located between 5-15kms of vicinity from here. Also, the train station & the bus stand are a 10 mins driving distance from here. Guest access Guests have access to the whole house including the Courtyard, the rooftop and the balcony of your room. During your stay I love to interact with my guests and tell them about my place and its culture. Not only I try to help them with their travel plans but also guide them in the best ways possible. My father who also loves to meet new people will be there to tell you more about the place than I even know! Other things to note *I organize Desert Safaris which are totally off-the-beaten track and will leave you asking for more. It will start from your transfer via Jeep to a quiet and traditional village where you’ll not only see how the locals live but will also experience a brilliant camel safari on Dunes. The silence of the Desert will bring you to peace and away from the hustle-bustle of the city (Just like meditation!). The safari would include – Sunset on the Dunes, Dinner in the desert, and a night under the stars which would be followed by breakfast and then a ride back via Jeep.
