Description

The Old National School is a Grade II listed house, nestled in the beautiful hamlet of Sampford Spiney, located within Dartmoor National Park. Dating from 1585, the house sits in an idyllic spot between the Church and picturesque Sampford Manor. Originally the Church hall, it became the parish school in 1887 until 1923. It was only in the 1960’s that it became a residential dwelling. With its varied history, the house is quirky, with its lovely spacious rooms hinting at its eclectic history. The space The Old National School oozes character, has spacious rooms, an amazing open plan kitchen/dining room, open fires……perfect for a cosy couples get away or for socialising with family or friends. Situated “on the moor”, it isn’t unusual to open the front door to find some of the many sheep and famous Dartmoor ponies immediately outside, looking up at you quizzically to see who is visiting their patch of the moor! Unfortunately the house is unsuitable for children under 10 years of age. Guest access The whole house and beautiful moorland garden is at guests sole disposal. Other things to note The third bedroom is on a mezzanine above the kitchen/dining area. It is private, but there are screens that can be used if further privacy is needed.
