Heather Cottage guest suite, rustic Devon charm.

The Guest Suite is a small self-contained private space, a bedroom + a bit more, in 200yr old Heather Cottage in the quiet village of Shirwell. Includes a bedroom, bathroom, lobby with breakfast/snack bar & enclosed porch. The nearest shops/pubs are a 10min drive. Off-road parking to the side; space to hang wet suits & store surf boards, and secure storage for bikes. 10 mins from Barnstaple amenities and easy reach of the Tarka Trail; the SW Coast Path; North Devon beaches & beautiful Exmoor. The space This is a step up from booking a room in someone's house. It offers a totally private space and is an ideal getaway for both active and quiet/reflective short breaks. The village is rural so it is very peaceful. Although there are no facilities in Shirwell itself the location is not too remote, with shops, pubs, restaurants just a 10 min drive. There is a key-safe available, also an outside tap for rinsing wetsuits and costumes. The property has thick stone walls and retains a cool temperature in the height of summer. At other times the central heating kicks in. The guest suite comprises a bedroom with good WiFi, TV (Amazon Firestick), a private bathroom, a lobby with a breakfast/snack bar (the website didn't let me call it a breakfast bar so I had to choose "kitchenette"), and an enclosed porch. The bathroom has an over-bath thermostatic shower. The breakfast/snack bar has basic but generous facilities (small microwave, toaster, kettle, cups, glasses, plates etc., as well as teas and coffee which are provided). There is also a small fridge. Though you can't do extensive cooking you can make breakfast and bring home fish and chips / pizza or a ready meal etc. The overall space is not large but it offers far more than booking a room in someone's house. You have exclusive access to your space. It is perfect for those who need a peaceful and comfortable, private base to come back to for the night, and to set off refreshed after breakfast the next morning. Guest access The guest suite is self-contained and you have exclusive access. Barnstaple, with its mainline train and bus stations, is a 10 minute drive. There is plenty of parking available in the town centre. The town is a small but thriving centre with shops, restaurants, parks, a museum and plenty to look around. There is a limited bus service from the village.
