Room Apo (Water)Ashram Sri Lanka
Description
Ashram Sri Lanka is a non-profit sanctuary devoted to the path of liberation. We welcome guests via Airbnb to avoid cancellations(no show). Please read all pages on our website: www ashramsrilanka org before visiting. We live in silence, mindfulness, and truth, opening our doors only to those in true harmony with this vibration, to preserve the peace of our space. The space Ashram Sri Lanka offers unique open rooms — half indoor space and half garden, with trees growing inside the room, plus open-air showers and toilets. Built simply from mud and designed with eco-friendly architecture, these rooms allow you to live in harmony with nature. We encourage you to view the photos on our website before your visit. We are a non-profit organization. While it is not our wish to focus on money, there is a practical need to maintain the Ashram in its pristine condition. Therefore, we ask for a contribution of per person per night (not per room), which we believe is a fair amount to help cover maintenance costs without requiring donations. All food and drinks are provided at a cost of USD 10 per person per day (payable daily or at the end of your stay). This covers everything you need for a simple yet fulfilling spiritual experience. Life at Ashram Sri Lanka is devoted to the liberation of the self through letting go of material possessions, practicing patience, and living with tolerance. We invite you to embrace a minimalist lifestyle here — and, in time, you may discover the joy and freedom of living with nothing but the essentials. Guest access Dear Sisters and Brothers, Our Ashram is located in Katuwana, a quiet village—not a tourist area—about 50 km from Matara Beach and 30 km from Tangalle Beach. The Ashram sits on 4 hectares of jungle land within the village, providing a peaceful environment. To minimize disturbances from locals, there are no road signs, and the access road is quite rough and challenging. We recommend using Google Maps for directions and asking local people for guidance when you arrive. The easiest way to reach us is by taking a Tuk Tuk from the city. During your stay Food We serve traditional Sri Lankan vegetarian meals, mostly rice and curry. During your stay, you’ll come to appreciate the simple and flavorful taste of Sri Lankan cuisine. (If you don’t like rice and curry, this may not be the right place for you.) The Ashram’s way of life embraces simplicity and asceticism, with minimal needs. Toilet and Shower Our toilets and showers are attached but open to nature, providing a unique, traditional yogic experience. We do not use toilet paper here, so please bring your own if you prefer. Mosquitoes You may want to bring mosquito repellent spray to avoid disturbances during yoga and meditation Other things to note Our Request of You At Ashram Sri Lanka, we ask all guests to show respect, humility, and kindness to all forms of life. Please follow our values of politeness and decency. We also encourage you to avoid seeking temporary sense pleasures, and instead focus on mindful living and inner peace.
