The Laughing King Retreat is an adults only, organic waterfront farm situated directly on the peaceful waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Your private guest suite will enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, private waterfront pool, private beach, hiking trails, miles of soft sugar sand sandbars to explore and enjoy. The space Your private waterfront suite features a spa shower with two shower heads and multiple body sprays, a large soaking tub, double sinks, super soft towels and all the amenities you would expect at a 5-star resort. Your king size bed features ridiculously soft plush bedding and pillows, French doors open onto a private deck overlooking the grounds, pool, and the mighty Chesapeake. Your suite has its own private refrigerator. You will also have full access to a full gourmet kitchen, two furnished screened porches, a large front porch with comfortable rocking chairs, a library, game room with a pool table, fire pit, waterfront gazebo, dry sauna, giant poolside palapa and much more. Guest access Laughing King guests have full access to the stunningly landscaped waterfront pool that features a saltwater water treatment system, chaise lounges, sun deck, shaded and full sun lounging options, as well as a fire pit, waterfront gazebo, dry sauna, giant poolside palapa and much more. The private beach and the bay are just a few steps away from the pool. The beach has a gradual water entrance that is perfect for launching your paddleboard or kayak. The Retreat is situated on a 60-acre organic farm that has miles of paths and trails for exploring and observing our rich natural environment, there is a small lake on the farm that is a wonderful spot to bird watch, fish, or paddle. If you enjoy road biking, we are blessed with well maintained hard surface country roads with very little traffic. We are a short drive from Savage Dunes Neck Natural Wildlife Preserve that features miles of beaches for combing and wild towering sand dunes to marvel at, Osprey and Bald Eagles abound. Laughing King is blessed with porches, lots of porches, our two large screen porches are furnished with large couches and chairs that are great to curl up on with your favorite book, your journal, or your lover. The front porch is a southern charmer with comfortable rocking chairs that face the centuries-old Ash trees that line the drive. Feeling the need to express your inner Julia Child? go for it! When breakfast is over you can take command of the fully stocked gourmet kitchen and prepare that roasted chicken recipe that you have been dying to try out, (all we ask is that you handle the dishes) The library has a small but nice book collection, and the pool table in the game room is a great place to settle a bet. If you are here in the summer and forgot to bring your straw hat, not to worry, we have a straw hat lending library that is a guest favorite. Help yourself. Other things to note The Laughing King is on a secluded peninsula and at night it gets really DARK. For stargazing purposes we keep the outdoor lighting to a minimum so if you are arriving after dark, please have your cell phone or a flashlight handy. We are focused on providing our guests with a quiet, relaxing, rejuvenating experience therefore, loud anything is not permitted at any time. Motorized vehicles like four wheelers, motorcycles (other than ones used to bring you here) or jet skis are not permitted. Quiet gatherings around the pool or the fire pit with other guests? Thumbs up! Midnight skinny dip? highly encouraged! As a safeguard to the quiet enjoyment of the retreat by all of our guests, parties or events are NOT permitted. We want you to love your time spent with us at The Laughing King as much as we love sharing the place with you. If there is anything we can do to help you enjoy your stay, just ask. The LK was established in the spring of 2000, we have been entertaining folks here from all over the world since then. If there is something you need to enhance your enjoyment of your stay we probably know a guy or gal that has just what you are looking for (a boat, a bike, a kite, a chef, a nature guide, a yogi, a masseuse, a priest...a welder, just ask)
