Built in 1888, Cats Castle sits in two acres on the seaward side of the A814, just beyond the western edge of Dumbarton. The property has wonderful views down the Firth of Clyde. Cats Castle is close to Glasgow, Helensburgh, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. The castle comprises three reception rooms, all with working fireplaces, a family kitchen, pantry, and five bedrooms, including the turret bedroom on the top floor. Suitable for family holidays or special occasions. Access is via a key safe. Cats Castle sits in grounds of about two acres on the seaward side of the A814, just beyond the western edge of Dumbarton. It is close to the conservation village of Cardross and about 6 miles from Helensburgh, one of western Scotland’s most desirable towns. Cardross is a quiet village with a respected primary school, tennis club, bowling club and one of the finest golf courses in west central Scotland. There is also a village store, post office and country pub. Helensburgh is a larger town offering more extensive services. The birthplace of John Logie Baird, the inventor of television, the town now offers an excellent range of local and specialist shops and supermarkets including Waitrose. On the Firth of Clyde, nearby Rhu Marina (8 miles) is one of Scotland’s most popular marinas with excellent facilities and easy access to some of the worlds most testing sailing waters. Loch Lomond is within 7 miles and offers spectacular scenery, pleasant walks, water sports and Loch Lomond Golf Club. Nearby Cameron House Hotel and Spa provides private leisure facilities including a swimming pool, gymnasium and marina. The castle offers good access to Glasgow, with the A814, A82 and the M8. Glasgow Airport is within 20 miles. To the north, the A811 leads to Stirling to join the M9 south to Edinburgh and the A9 north to Perth.The castle is also only a 5 minute drive from the train station at Dalreoch. From Dalreoch, you can catch direct trains to Glasgow (around 30 minutes) and Edinburgh (around 90 minutes). There is also a host of local taxi services. For smaller parties, we also offer the Cats Whiskers cottage at Cats Castle. This has two bedroom and three beds. This can be booked separately on Airbnb.
