Description
Enjoy the Venetian atmosphere living on a canal and strolling through the lifely Via Garibaldi around the corner. Nearby you find the sites of the Arts Biennale of the Giardini and the Arsenale. The price of the apartment includes the daily tourist tax of 4 Euro per person. We are a private apartment, not a hotel. The space The private apartment of 60sqm has a strategic position near the sites of the Arts Biennale in the Biennale Gardens (Giardini) and the Arsenal. Via Garibaldi is among the few areas in Venice where people actually still live. So you can find bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, fish- and fruit vendors within a normal price range. If you prefer beach life it just takes you 10 waterbus minutes to reach Venice Lido with its beaches and restaurants. Here you can also rent a bike and embark for a trip through the lagoon. Using a combination of bike, bus and ferries, you can reach small islands like Pellestrina and get as far as the beautiful lagoon town Chioggia. Guest access There is a double bed in the bedroom and a comfortable couch in the living room. Other things to note When arriving by plane at Marco Polo Airport, the fastest way to come to town is by taking the Alilaguna waterbus. Also, you catch a glimpse of the island of Murano on your way. After leaving the airport terminal you walk around 10 minutes to the waterbus station. Be sure to reach the Alilaguna waterbus and not the taxi boat stand (The Alilaguna is 15 Euro one way, the taxi 110 Euro). You take the Alilaguna Linea Blu directed to to the Lido, but you get off at the next stop called 'Arsenale'. The entire trip lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes. Should you come by car, there are parking spaces on the Marghera side before reaching the bridge to Venice (on the right side of the incoming road). Daily fare is 5-6 Euro. You take a short walk to the bus-station on the main road and take the yellow bus to Piazzale Roma. From there catch waterbusses 4.1, 5.1 or 6 (30 min.) directed to the Lido. To get to the waterbus stop 5.1 and 6, walk between the big parking buildings and under the high train ("People Mover") and after approx. 100 m you will reach a double stop. Here you take the right one (Zone B). 4.1 is around the corner in Zone E. You get off at the stop 'Biennale/Giardini'. You can also take Line Nr. 1 along the Canale Grande, but it will take you at least 1 hour. From Venezia-Treviso airport, take a bus to Venice Piazzale Roma (around an hour and half) and continue as previously described. From the railway station Santa Lucia, which is one stop away from Piazzale Roma, take waterbuses 4.1 or 5.1. (or the slow no. 1) and proceed as mentioned before. Depending on the plans for your visit, it might be convenient for you to buy a daily, 3-days or weekly (water)bus ticket from one of the main boots at the airport, in Piazzale Roma, the train station, the stop Giardini or the Lido. Take into account that it takes around one hour to walk through the whole town to/from Piazzale Roma/ the railway station Santa Lucia to/from the apartment. Means to say, all the sites of major interest can be reached by walking in less time, usually around 30 min. For example, walking distance to Saint Mark's Square is around 15 to 20 min form the apartment. IMPORTANT: - Alilaguna waterbus tickets are not valid for the other waterbusses in the Venice town area. After buying a waterbus ticket, you must validate it at one of those little ticket computers which you find at every waterbus stop. You will pay a fine of 60 Euro in case the ticket is not validated. - Unfortunately, the pickpocket phenomenon has taken momentum in Venice recently. Above all, be aware in your arrival, at ticket boots, etc. when you are distracted by other activities. - Last not least: It is well known that Venice has higher water levels in autumn and winter. During these periods, you should always have light boots or those light plastic overshoes with you that you can buy at kiosks all over town. If necessary, we have a pair in our shoe cabinet behind the entrance door. If you use them, please replace or clean them at the end of your stay and put them back in the shoe cabinet.
