Casa Vista Grande sits on a hilltop with spectacular unobstructed views of Big Bend NP and the Chisos Mtns. It's 1.3 miles south of Terlingua on a good dirt road…off Hwy 170. It is 6 miles to the entrance of BBNP. The river, mountain biking, hiking, and stables are nearby. Our remodeled 1200 sq. ft. adobe house features one bedroom with a king bed, a queen Murphy bed in the spacious living area, vaulted ceilings, full kitchen, large bathroom with tiled shower, fire pit, and two covered porches. Casa Vista Grande has one of the most incredible views of BBNP from any home in the Terlingua/Study Butte area. If you desire quiet, solitude, night skies, and spacious living area...and yet want to be about 6 minutes from town, then you will be pleased with Casa Vista Grande. The Big Bend area is officially designated as one of the darkest places in America. This hilltop location provides stargazers an ideal vantage point to view the night sky and the Milky Way. The sunrise and sunset views of the Chisos from Casa Vista Grande are unparalleled, making for an ideal location for photographers or for those who want to just sit and ponder. We provide a camping cot with pad and a sleeping bag for adventuresome guests to sleep on the porch or under the stars where the coyotes howl and the owls hoot. You must travel 1.3 miles (about 6 minutes) over a good ranch road to get there. While the travel route is on a dirt road, a high clearance vehicle is not necessary. Anaphylactic shock can be caused by an allergic reaction to animals and may cause death. Terlingua is a very long way from advanced medical care. If a Service Animal stays at Casa Vista Grande, we will scour the casa and may replace bedspreads, rugs, and anything else that may be affected. Terlingua is a small historic ghost town with unique restaurants, an internet cafe, an art gallery, historic mining ruins and cemetery. It's known for its music scene and friendly gathering of locals and visitors on the Starlight Theatre's porch for nightly sunset viewings and impromptu musical performances. Most major roads in the Big Bend area are paved and accessible by cars, though higher clearance vehicles or SUVs are sometime beneficial, especially during inclement weather. A high clearance vehicle is not necessary for our 1.3 mile gravel ranch road, but always nice. Our low clearance PT Cruiser makes it just fine. We provide a fire pit with wood for the first fire. For additional fires, please bring your own or purchase from local grocery store. There is a charcoal grill with utensils available. We live a long ways from town, so please bring your own charcoal.
