The Roost B & B is an in-home B & B with a very warm, friendly atmosphere where you are treated like family. You will truly feel right at home. Our spacious patio and lawns invite you to relax or maybe take a walk in a quiet country setting. The HydeAway Room is a private, second floor quaint room which can accommodate guests with both queen and double beds. For your comfort it is air conditioned, has a flat screen tv , mini-fridge, wifi, two bureaus, a large closet, full bath with shower, and an additional closet/dressing/wifi/reading area with a couch off the bathroom. The main room also has a corner wingback chair and lamp for reading. There is room for a child's pack 'n play . The skylights open for your nighttime viewing of the stars or just to cool off a little. There are room darkening shades in the sky lights if you prefer. We also offer an extra card table and chairs for card playing or use for your laptop and two folding t.v. tables . Guests have access to their rooms, common areas, large brick patio with grilling area and acres of lawn and fields. All guests will be given their own key to come and go as they please. Guests will be greeted by the hosts upon arrival unless otherwise arranged. Early morning coffee and water and ice is available in our kitchen. Living on the premises gives us the advantage of always being available for our guests. A friendly nighttime gathering around the camp fire gives our guests the opportunity to relax and chat with us and other guests while listening to a nearby barred owl or possibly a coyote answering the call of a full moon. "It is truly worth the ride in the country side". The Roost is located in a quiet country setting, on a secondary road, yet only one mile from the main highway. The town of Winthrop offers taxi service but we do not have public transportation. Rental of vehicles is available at the Portland jetport , Augusta State airport, or at the local car rental service in nearby Augusta. We are located just 5 miles from the Theater at Monmouth and only 8 miles from Kents Hill School. Being just an hour away from the ocean, you can visit our state parks during a day trip. We are in close proximity to all the summer camps in the area, making it an easy transition for drop off or for family visit weekends. There are several family style eateries and restaurants in the immediate area. The local grocery, pharmacy, gas stations, and banks are all within two miles of the B & B. Maranacook Lake is open to the public for swimming and boating with entertainment at Norcross Point on Sunday afternoons with space for a picnic. Boat rentals can be arranged with delivery right to the lake.
