Can host ONE dog; NO cats accepted. Beautiful private suite on top floor of lovely 1914 Center Hall Colonial home. Full of original art and antiques, our house is near the border of Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights, two blocks walk from Shaker Square. The entrance and stairs to get to your suite are shared with our family, and we require guests to wear masks when coming and going, but the suite itself is entirely private for our guests. Two Bedrooms (Queen Bed with memory foam topper in Master Bedroom; twin bed with memory foam topper in 2nd Bedroom along with flexible work/partial kitchen area, and 1 Full Bath. The suite can sleep up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 1-2 children [SAFE FOR AGE 5 OR OLDER ONLY] though it is most comfortable for 1 or 2 visitors at a time. Our home was used as a film location for the movie 'In Search of Fellini' and the suite's second bedroom features original artwork on the walls created just for the movie. Our suite is beautifully furnished in period style with modern amenities including secure, hi-speed WiFi; third floor views across a park-like setting and quiet, broad avenue. You'll get access to an intimate backyard patio to enjoy in good weather with views of our garden and soaring trees. Enjoy our new pollinator plantings to feed butterflies and bees or play tetherball in our backyard. And guests can use our full washer and dryer in the basement if needed. The suite includes microwave, induction hot plate, fridge, toaster, electric kettle, and rice cooker with vegetable steamer for light cooking as well as linens and towels, wireless Internet connection, cable TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple+ TV, periodic maid service-- all you need for a comfortable stay. Access to free washer/dryer. Free driveway parking. However, if you want to do lots of food prep and cooking, our suite will NOT meet your needs. This suite is perfect for Clinic or U.H. visiting nurses, patients visiting Cleveland for treatment or surgery and their families or for people who need a place to stay while finding housing for a move to Cleveland. Also ideal if you're visiting for a family get together, internship, training, or event at Case, John Carroll or CSU. We are happy to give directions, restaurant and grocery store recommendations, and orient you to all that is great about Cleveland and the Heights-University Circle area. We allow guests to bring ONE well-behaved dog. There is a $5 per night charge for a pet plus an additional $100 damage deposit returned in full when you leave if there is no damage from the pet. Due to the number of guests we book with cat allergies, we can't allow guests to bring their cats, much as we love them! Our home is a 25-30 minutes drive to Cleveland Hopkins airport. One hour 15 minutes to Akron/Canton airport. The Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital are ten minutes away by car. So are the Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Museum of Art, Case Western Reserve University, and other area museums at University Circle, all accessible by nearby bus route (RTA bus 48-48A, an 8-minute walk away). You can walk two blocks to parks with lakes and jogging paths, lovely homes and mansions, hip nightlife, a farmers market & Cleveland’s best restaurants. Grab a trolley on the corner (4 houses away) to be downtown in 15 minutes and enjoy theater, concerts, and America’s best museums. Free summer concerts in the park just ten minutes’ walk away. Grab a bike and tour through a wonderland of classic architecture and park-like settings. We enjoy chatting with guests when they come and go from their activities, if we happen to cross paths with them. We're happy to answer any questions they might have about fun things to do, good restaurants, places to shop, or any other questions they might have about Cleveland. Our neighborhood is quite an amazing blend of suburban and urban loveliness, next door to the hip, urban restaurants and farmers market at Shaker Square, two blocks from beautiful lakes and parks, and less than a ten minute drive to Cleveland's famous hospitals, museums, universities, and orchestra. We are only a 15 minute drive to downtown Cleveland. 4 doors from our home is a stop of the rapid transit train, a type of trolley that goes directly downtown and on to the Science Center and Rock Hall on the weekends. A bus that travels to the hospitals, Case, and museums stops only an 8-minute walk away. A car is fun to have, but not necessary to get around. We do have one friendly, gray, indoor-outdoor cat that isn't allowed to enter the guest suite. Most visitors with cat allergies have not noticed symptoms while staying here. Feel free to pet Benjamin downstairs and out in our yard. Please do watch out for him when pulling in and out of the driveway. He's deaf and may need to be shooed into the yard before pulling in or out. Thank you!
