Long weekends min.3 nights. The space The cottage is on a forested dead end road so traffic is minimal. Take a 1.2km evening stroll to Rocky Beach with public access down a short trail to the lake to watch a spectacular Lake Huron sunset off the rocks. Walk/hike the local trails with access right out of the back yard. Step out onto the balcony and marvel at the sheer number of stars on a clear night...we are a Dark Sky community! Games (e.g. Scrabble, Uno, dominos, cards, cribbage, backgammon) & puzzles available in room, also a mid-sized cooler & ice packs. Snowshoes & poles available for winter adventuring. Guest access Enjoy your private suite as well as breakfast on the front deck, or, in inclement and/pr cold weather, in the dining room which is part of the open concept living area. Guests are welcome to use the backyard fire pit (moderate fires only!) as long as there is no fire ban in effect and/or strong winds, and there is comfy outdoor furniture on the flagstone patio for lounging in season. There is a BBQ too on the front deck all year round should you choose to eat in, as well as a microwave in the kitchen you may use. A tray with plates, glasses, cutlery, napkins, etc. & bbq implements is provided. Other things to note The suite is set up to accommodate 2 guests but a comfortable twin floor mattress with bedding can be made available for a third adult guest (one only) for an additional $30 per night charge if needed. There is a large ceiling fan in the suite as well as a good number of windows, and the cottage is well designed with vaulted ceilings so sleeping comfortably is very rarely an issue even in the warmer summer months. A small table fan is also available. Due to the remoteness of the location, cell phone reception is weak to spotty at best, though text messages generally seem to go through better than phone calls. The cottage is heated in the fall, winter & early spring by a wood burning stove on the main floor in the open concept living space. With the suite’s door closed overnight, it can get cool, so there are extra cozy blankets available in the closet as well as baseboard heaters for colder nights.
