We have built, created and constantly renovated our home for our own family over the 32 years we have lived and loved here. Away from your every day life but with the generous comforts and conveniences of home and lots of extras. You can experience laughter, fun, relaxation and a spot of birding while you relax. Your ramp and path to the house are private. ( Driveway to road is shared with hosts) The Pool area is your private oasis during your stay. Artwork by Mandy is dotted around our property, inside and out. Lots of laughter is expected when you are trying out some of our board/ card games. The property is exclusively yours during your stay. ( we do not have other guests or maintenance people during your short stay ( unless an emergency or yard maintenance for long stay. ) Long stay- complimentary linen change, clean and tidy, each week. Mark and Mandy live on the property away from your area and maintain the pool, gardens and birds in their enclosure habitats, during your visit in an unobtrusive manner. Private access via your entry ramp access and pathway from the top carpark to the entire upper level. In consideration of native nocturnal mammals, birdlife we have sensor lighting on paths at night. So swimming in the large heated magnesium pool ( 4m x 7 m) is a delight.( Summer set to 27.5 degrees, can be changed by request) Safety walk rail shallow end and toddler platforms. Heaters and reverse cycle airconditioning for cooler weather, and fans in each room, though often not needed. Yandina is very mild. All linen (byo beach towels), quilts, blankets, extra pillows, cushions included. Double mattress and pillow protectors on each bed. All washed between guests. Double layer waterproof protectors on beds and pillows to ensure freshness. Luxurious quality linen, pillows, extra linen and luxury blankets. Rooms are ionised, cleaned and sanitised to a bond clean standard between guests. Dining area has 6 chairs, glass dining table. More dining available on fully screened balcony/ verandah. No pets allowed, due to local wild and resident birds, including native wrens, finches and native fauna, and artificial grassed areas, sorry. You have a laundry area with views, on the screened in balcony/ verandah, tucked around the side. Retractable washing lines and airer. Iron and ironing board. 2 washers (front loader or top load option) Dryer. Courtyard at front has a FIREPIT, chairs and table. ( weather permitting) Back yard 1/4 acre. We built our home 32 years ago and raised our 4 sons here. Renovated and inspired by natural ambience. You'll notice art as in the photos. Guest comment: 'its like a beautiful tree house.' Mark and Mandy's private area is below and our entrance hidden from yours, to the left in the lower seperate split level area. Our entry is private and (away from your entry) at the end of the driveway. To access pool you need to go past our screened courtyard , along with the bird enclosure habitats. Sheds on property are not accessible to guests. Native bird song is standard and free of charge. :) Book a free tour of our bird habitats. Our property is quiet, peaceful and relaxing with native bird visits and resident rescue birds in habitat enclosures, as well as permanent bird residents. Yandina is part of the Noosa biosphere and is popular with 'birders' ( Bird watchers) Semi rural noise- SEASONAL Amazing Aussie Kookaburras, curlews, catbirds, whip birds, storm birds, plethora of native birds, cicadas, possums, fruit bats in trees may visit. Bird rescue habitat enclosures on our property house over 40 native and exotic bird species. My birds- generally contented/quiet. Peaceful environment. We may need to garden while you're staying, we will be as unobtrusive as possible. Checking and cleaning pool daily, leaf blowing. Usually while you are out and about sightseeing. Mark and I live seperately on the property , we do not have access to your area. We alone see to birds and garden during your stay. In our private area we have a 2 quiet indoor cavalier dogs and 2 indoor ragdoll cats that stay in our enclosed host area, most guests don't even see them. NO resident animals have access to your guest area. You may not see them during your stay, but our 2 indoor Cavaliers access back yard behind pool area, (when you are not using it ) request to meet, if you choose the bird tour. Ask to meet our 2 indoor ragdoll cats on the bird tour. NO ACCESS to BIRD HABITAT ENCLOSURES and aviaries unless with hosts. Free tour by appointment only. Resident birds are generally contented and quiet unless there is a hawk around. Guests have commented to me that they love how relaxing and peaceful it is here. Firepit in your private courtyard area. Screened in, full length verandah/ balcony area. Private, exclusive use guest bath house on your level. Private exclusive use laundry with 2 washers and a dryer, ironing board and iron on your level. You have access to the private pool area on fenced lower terrace. Access is past host area. BYO Beach towels for beach use. ( Coolum is 15 mins drive) Wander through the subtropical, naturally landscaped front garden paths. 1/4 acre. Wander in the back garden just under 1/4 acre. NO ACCESS to bird habitats except by appointment.(by appointment- Bird habitat educational tour and bird feeding.) All birds have capacity to nip if attempting to pàt when they do not want it. Hosts only to pat birds. Though they are very friendly and love to sit on shoulders and food baskets. NO ACCESS to private host residence. Pool area on lower terrace. (We will only use when you are not on site. Shared with hosts.) Other things to note Semi rural area. Yet close to shops! (300m Down the hill) Our gardens are naturally landscaped with natural wide stone and brick pathways, steps, and ramps for access. Natural, uneven surfaces outside may not suit some guests with mobility issues. Having said that, I have mobility issues and use mobility aids. But I love our property. Seasonally, we will have possums, sugar gliders and fruit bats in the trees and very occasionally on the roof outside at night. Cicadas, crickets and native frogs of many different kinds. Storm birds ( channel billed cuckoos ) fly over seasonally. November to March. NOTE: You have exclusive use. We do not have anyone else visit the property during your stay. Bird watchers may enjoy wild kookaburras, currawongs, curlews, scrub turkey, blue fairy wrens, spotted pardalotes, cat birds, whip birds, finch species, honey eaters and other rainforest species, pheasant coucal, king parrots, rifle birds, lorikeets and many other bird species including visiting yellow tailed black and sulphur crested cockatoos fly over our property and sit in the trees regularly. I have 2 pet frizzle x chickens.(We nor the neighbours, do NOT have a rooster) We have an echidna and lizards who visit during warmer months. An occasional goanna may wander through. Please check under cars before driving out. Occasionally hawks, kestrels or a wandering goanna, can cause a disturbance, causing a rukkus with the local wild minah bird, willy wagtail, kookaburra and currawong bird army patrol gang as they chase the offender off. We may have rescue birds/ possum or lizards settling in or a baby bird or 2 and though mostly settled, they may get alarmed and so bird calls may happen at occasional times, from the habitat enclosures. In Queensland during summer, snakes, spiders, ants are normal. Though they are not usually seen. You shouldn't see any snakes but please be mindful, children should not play in mulched garden beds there is a risk and it is unadvisable. Advise host if a snake is seen. We are surrounded by trees and so there may be the occasional python visit a tree. I will relocate if there is one. All pamper items, and games are sterilized between visits, leave out when you leave, so that I know what was used. All games and pamper items will be kept in good working order unless outside of our control. I check pamper items in between guests. We will advise if there is anything that is not working on your arrival. Let us know if by chance something is not working, missing or out of order, we will attempt to fix immediately. The balcony area is screened so you are unlikely to have visits too close but during summer it is not unusual for me to be catching and relocating one that is attempting a birdy dinner party trying to get into one of my bird habitats. We will need access to gardens to water in dry weather. We will leaf blow in a morning to freshen up the driveway, paths and pool area for you in an unobtrusive manner, usually while you are out. We will let you know on arrival and cause as little disruption to your peace and quiet as possible, attempting to do so while you are out. (We will not need to access the main house.) DISABILITY ACCESS: Gardens and access are not suitable for wheelchairs. Though wheelie walkers have been used, I use one. ( NB I am totally self- funded (NOT on disability pension.) Our property may not suit, if you have difficulty walking, as our block has beautiful sloping, terraced, and uneven surfaces, (I use some mobility aids ) 3 low steps at private entrance ramp, terraced and retained. ( See photos) ( Please ask) I have problems walking at times and manage quite well with cane and wheelie walker. I have a mobility scooter for the driveway, please ask, if you need it. We have had people with mobility issues stay, and you are welcome at your own discretion and risk. Just ask for more information. Shower/ baths may be difficult for those with limited mobility. An overbath shower seat is available on request. Please note that all people staying at and using our property need to be paid for. Extra people up to a total of 9 people in your group ( including children) are most welcome. ( Must book) Booking numbers can be altered on request. ( we have occasionally hosted slightly larger groups. Please ask.) YOUR TASKS before checkout- Leave used games and used massage items out for me to sanitize. Tell me if something was broken or stained. Wipe out cooktop, bbq and ovens if used. Pop all used crockery, utensils, coffee machine baskets and sink baskets into dishwasher with dishwasher tablet and turn on. Take your rubbish out to bins, Remove all your spilled food quickly. Wipe out fridge, freezer on leaving. Strip/ remove used linen, Unused linen, pop on beds. Leave used towels in bathroom, not on beds please. Remember this is our loved home, not a motel or resort and you are our honoured, welcome house guests. ( left to your privacy, but we're happy for a chat too.) We spend much time ensuring that our property looks and feels natural, beautiful and private, for us to share with you. In the unlikely event of power outage, due to a weather event, we will supply a battery and light bars, a gas stove, phone charger power banks and torches to use while power is out, as required. Off peak water system ensures hot water is still available. Sensor lights outside are solar. Our home has high ceilings, faces North East and gets delightful evening sea breezes. Cooler in Summer, warmer in winter. Please note- fridge and Aircondioning will not work during a rare power outage. Pool will still be available during any power outage. Ask if you need ice bottles to use for the fridge. Battery powered camping fans may be available also. Please ask. If power is off for more than 6 hours unless during the night 10pm-6am, a late checkout ( up to 6 hours) or a free night will be offered, to be used during your stay or to add to a later minimum 2 night stay. Stays over 7 nights can request a linen change and mini house clean. ( Usually chosen for every 5 days. Prior notification needed and when mutually beneficial.) LONG STAY- If approved, for longer stays OVER 3 WEEKS.
