Tip Top is more than a stay, it's an experience. Our Huntsman Suite, accessed by a private staircase, is a spacious and unique space in a historic mansion . The first bedroom has a canopied Queen bed, sitting area, and work desk. The second Bedroom has a Queen bed and large work desk. The spa bathroom has a Kohler whirlpool and walk-in shower. This Suite can accommodate four persons. If more space is necessary, visit our Tally-Ho Suite, at Airbnb.com/rooms/32492353. Tip Top was an equestrian estate that was an important part of the storied Great Gatsby era "Gilded Age". Tip Top's mansion remains today and has been meticulously restored by an award-winning member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. The oldest part of the house was built in the first half of the 18th century (approx. 1745). The house has been fully updated with all modern amenities, but as guests have observed, "somehow, even with the original details and period collectibles, it still feels like a home." Guests can take an optional guided tour (it’s free), and marvel at architectural details, immerse themselves in the history of previous owners and lifestyles going back over 300 years, marvel at the artifacts unearthed during the extensive restoration process, examine the original hand-hewn timbers of the house, and visit the subterranean vaulted stone rooms containing the original cistern, root cellar, smoke house, ash pit and wine cellar. Tip Top is perfect for couples enjoying a cozy & private romantic getaway, working persons, and solo travelers in a quiet tranquil setting, while still close to Bucks County with its eclectic New Hope river town and Doylestown, which sports the renowned Mercer, Font Hill, Michener and Moravian Tile museums. Philadelphia with its many attractions is just a short train ride or automobile trip away. Chester County beckons with its Longwood Gardens, Chanticleer, Brandywine River Museum, and nearby Winterthur, the storied 175 room DuPont Estate. King of Prussia, the world's third largest shopping mall with its 450 stores, shops and restaurants is 20 minutes away. In addition to the Huntsman Suite, we offer two other Suites, the Tally-Ho Suite, which can be accessed through Airbnb.com/rooms/32492353; and the Derby Suite, through Airbnb.com/rooms/591944796362669864. Shortly after you've checked out, Airbnb will invite you to post a review of your stay, and we would be most appreciative if you do. As our guest, you will share the following spaces: Entrance Hall, Ballroom, Living Room, Keeping Room, Courtyard, Patios, Gardens and Koi Pond. Free off-street private parking is available on site, directly adjacent to your private, key-less and secure entrance. Please note that our driveway has two red reflectors where it meets Crestview Drive (our street). Our guests enjoy their privacy but we are always available when needed as Tip Top is our home. You can relax in the quiet privacy & comfort of your Suite, and also avail yourself of the Living Room, Keeping Room, Ballroom, and the expansive Courtyard, Patio, Pond and Garden areas. When you're here, you're family. Feel free to talk with us at any time; we'll take our cues from you as to your desire to socialize. If you need us for anything and we don't seem to be about, please call or text us on our cell phone(s) and we'll immediately respond. Formerly a horse farm and equestrian training center, our neighborhood is quiet, peaceful, and tranquil, situated alongside the Wissahickon Creek in the most prestigious area in Montgomery County. Our home is on a cul-de-sac, with no through traffic. It is a short walk (6-8 min) to the SEPTA train station, with frequent service to center city Philadelphia (40 min) and Philadelphia International Airport (1 hr. 20 min.) The PA Turnpike and other Interstate highways are a short distance away (4-5 miles). The nearest shops are a five-minute drive in various directions. There are 2 major shopping malls at 10-15 minutes driving distance. Valley Forge National Park and King of Prussia lie close by to the west. Doylestown with its quaint streets, shops, museums and restaurants is close by to the north. Next door, to the south, lies Ambler, experiencing a renaissance in its unique restaurants, theater, and playhouse. And, for those interested in history, Montgomery County takes great pride in its collection of restored properties from the Colonial era, all open to the public. There is a wonderful creekside hiking trail within short walking distance (6-8 min), including access to a nearby nature preserve. There is an Italian restaurant 7-10 minutes walk away. There are also many restaurants of various cuisines within a short driving distance (5-10 min.) For bicyclists, our neighborhood lies astride one of Pennsylvania's premier bicycling routes, Bike Route S, the longest Bicycle PA Route, extending 435 miles from Washington County (east of Wheeling, W VA) to Washington Crossing Military Park on the Delaware River in neighboring Bucks County. The train station to/from Philadelphia (40 min) and Int'l Airport (1hr, 20min) is a 6 to 8 minute walk away. Parking at the station is also available. Bus service runs nearby along US Route 202; the bus stop is an 8 to 10 minute walk away.
