Description
A stunning modern self-contained cottage on a working flower farm in the beautiful Somerset countryside. Oak Tree cottage is easily accessed off a quiet country road in the picturesque hamlet of Combe Florey nestled at the foot of the Quantock Hills. Several local country pubs and restaurants, leafy walks, beaches, local amenities, shopping are all within a short drive. Dunster Castle and the renowned West Somerset Steam Railway are just two of the local attractions. The space The cottage is attached to the main house on our 7 acre farm. We grow young flower plants and herbs in the nursery and polytunnels (not open to the public) to sell as potted plants in local farmers markets. There is also a 3 acre cider apple orchard with uninterrupted, stunning rural views to the Quantock hills. The cottage is very light and spacious with a downstairs bedroom with an option of a super king size or 2 single beds, an en suite shower room with large walk-in shower, toilet and washbasin. From the bedroom the French doors lead onto a small private patio giving views of the meadow and surrounding countryside. Upstairs is a wonderful, large, open plan lounge -dining-kitchen area with patio doors leading to a balcony with far reaching uninterrupted views of the Quantock Hills. The kitchen is well equipped to include hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster etc. The cottage is totally self-contained and is accessed via a locked front door from a communal hall shared with the main house. Oak Tree Cottage stands alone in a peaceful setting within easy walking distance of the village with its picturesque cottages, 13th century church and thatched pub. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the coastline & tourist spots of Minehead and Watchet or the stunning beauty of Exmoor National Park (approx 30 mins drive in each direction). The Somerset Levels with its own special character is also nearby. The West Somerset Railway which starts at Bishops Lydeard just 2 miles down the road puffs its way through the countryside to Minehead several times a day throughout the summer. The Quantock Hills are great for ambling along the footpaths, longer walks or challenging mountain bike trails. There are a variety of National Trust, English Heritage and similar sites within a 20 mile radius and details are available in our Welcome Pack. Our local thatched pub/ restaurant (The Farmers Arms) is a 10 minute walk away, has a good atmosphere and serves good food and a wide variety of beers, gins and local ciders. Guest access Guests have a private patio area and have access to the communal gardens. They are welcome to walk or sit and relax in the meadow and orchard. The nursery is accessible with care as this is a working area.
