Description

The perfect getaway, this stunning self-contained villa boasts one of the best panoramic views you will find on Royal Deeside in the Scottish Highlands yet totally retains its homely feel. Offering the luxury of a hot tub, the romance of a wood burning fire, a fully equipped kitchen, & a 50” tv, the peace & tranquility is second to none. Go through the patio doors to a huge area of decking where you can enjoy nature at its best, while turning the BBQ or pizza and enjoy your evening G+T. The space The views from this home are unblocked and unrivalled. Hay fields with regular visiting deer and pheasants lead to the River Dee and the hills beyond. The decking area is a superb entertaining space, and the garden has a fairy lit, pergola area to enjoy a fire and a drink in the evening. From the welcoming kitchen with its impressive dining table (up to 12) the villa opens up to an oak floored salon looking on to the fields and valley beyond. Go through the patio doors to a huge area of decking where you can enjoy nature at its best while soaking in the hot tub, cooking on the BBQ or in the pizza oven. The 2nd public room, complete with office facilities & comfy bed settee, and the master bedroom en-suite all enjoy this splendid panorama. The villa has two additional double bedrooms with extra sleeping space in the office sofa bed & fold up bed available for the lounge or master bedroom. I have hosted several 'month & more' guests since Covid, some quarantining then getting out in nature, others finished PHD research, one completed a novel, another a self-help book while teaching yoga classes on Zoom & working out in the stone circle! It has been a great new step for me & I've enjoyed the opportunity to get to know guests in a different way. Feel free to chat the possibility of longer stays. Once you make your booking, I will send you a PDF with more info including where to order food, local organic veg boxes, the fish man visits on a Thursday & what I can offer - I am not a bad cook given enough notice, whatever your plans, I'll help you work out how it can work for you. I'll also send you a video of how to find our place, which one is yours and how to get in etc. Here's a little more about the property as a whole-> Den of Allachlade has been home for me since October 1993. My daughter, Jessica, was born here and the house has morphed through several stages in parallel to my life. It has borne witness to family life, therapy, workshops, all sorts of weird and wonderful events and the transformation of many beautiful people. Someone once told me it was built on the site of an ancient temple: true or fantasy, it really has a special vibe to it and somehow manages to be home, therapy center and base for travelers, professional nomads, volunteers, holidaymakers, spiritual seekers... all in one go. A Scottish twist on a Laurel Canyon type commune, with a good helping of home style luxury. So, naturally the Den has grown organically with the shifting tides and times of life. The main house also has 3 additional self-contained units available separately if required for larger group bookings. Amongst the many human visitors, there is also a family of deer who can be seen grazing and frolicking just at the edge of garden. Then there’s the pheasant family: Charlie, the dad can be seen strutting his path daily and mum, Priscilla, is rather partial to a mud bath. Guest access All areas of the main house and garden and access to the driveway for parking and access to the garage for laundry facilities. The property has 3 separate self-contained units who also have access to parking, garage and the garden. The decking in front of the main salon is yours (except when the Garden Studio people use it to access their room - the section immediately to the front of the Garden Studio is for them. Feel free to use / share the south garden and the pagoda and fire pit area at the bottom of the garden, it is a lovely peaceful place to sit as well as the lawn. In the summer some of its guests enjoy sitting outside in the stone circle to east. You can also use anywhere in the north side of the garden except the Zen Garden at the back of the Fairy Penthouse. Other things to note PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN BOOKING: The Villa is only let out at peak times so I am less experienced here than the other units, therefore I am almost sure there will be some things not quite perfect, lots I haven't thought of, maybe something I have left behind and so on, so please let me know and I will do whatever I can to fix it / sort it out for you or at least for the next person. Our garden is a work in progress as we slowly move towards a more sustainable living. What that means is you'll be unlikely to arrive at a perfectly manicured place. Garden and garage always have things going on, please be aware of that and take care. The Den is a home, an ideology and a business and I appreciate your understanding, I'm sure you'll see soon discover why I love it so much.
