Shepherd's View is situated in a quiet corner of the wild flower meadow behind our centuries old thatched farmhouse. IT IS THE ONLY HUT ON THE SITE. We are based just outside SOUTH MOLTON in beautiful countryside on the edge of EXMOOR. The hut is totally off grid allowing you to get away from it all .A separate toilet and hot power shower are only a few steps away. We provide everything you need to make your own breakfast on the first morning, including fresh eggs and homemade bread. The space The Shepherd's hut has a comfy double mattress on a raised platform, with storage space underneath. There is a woodburning stove which makes the hut lovely and cosy in the evenings! We provide guests with everything they need for the fire - lighters, kindling, and logs - and will of course show you how to get it going. There is a small table and chairs in case you want to eat inside. The hot shower and compost toilet are housed separately, approx. 10 metres behind the hut. Cooking facilities are in a wooden summerhouse, and include a rustic table, chairs, pots & pans, utensils, and a two burner gas stove with small grill. There is also a barbecue. There is a chimenea to keep you warm if you are dining al fresco or sitting out under the stars - we are only a few miles from Exmoor, Europe's First Dark Sky Reserve, and on a clear night the stars are simply stunning. Waiting for you on arrival will be a cool box full of goodies for you to make your own breakfast. This includes homemade spelt bread, fresh eggs from our chickens, homemade jam and marmalade, cereal, milk, bacon, mushrooms, tea and coffee. The ice blocks can be exchanged daily in the cool box with fresh ones from the house. The site is totally off grid allowing you to switch off and getaway from it all. Don't worry though, we have plenty of torches, solar lamps to light your way to the shower and loo, and gas lamps in the catering tent. It is a 75 metre walk up the grass track from the parking area to the hut. We are also happy for guests to pitch a tent for their children under 16yrs close to the Shepherd's hut for an additional £15 per night. Over 16yrs, £15pp per night. It's a good idea to arrive before dark so that you can get your bearings, and we recommend you bring wellies and waterproofs !! Guest access There is plenty of green space around the hut for you to enjoy, and no one else with you .The hut stands alone . We are happy for you wander around and look at what we are growing in the garden and polytunnels at the back of the house. The front garden is our private space. Other things to note Suitable for walkers. You can walk straight from the house as there are footpaths from the property. Ideal for bird watchers, nature lovers and artists. Gas lamps, torches and candles provided. We can accommodate well behaved dogs , but they must be kept on a lead , and all poo cleared up . We would appreciate you emailing us first if you want to bring a dog .We charge an additional £10 cleaning fee if you want to bring your four legged friend, which is payable on arrival.
