The room in on the second floor. It has a brand new queen-size bed, shelves, desk, bedside table, books and bookcase, and a small closet. The bathroom with shower is private and directly across the hall. The room also contains a small fridge, coffee maker, teapot, and toaster. We stock the room with self-serve light breakfast or snack items including freshly ground coffee, tea, half-and-half, yogurt, muffin, and fruit. This is a great getaway for an individual or pair. We can accommodate a small family, too, with a foam mattress on the floor. Our guest bedroom and private bathroom are reached via a back staircase out of our "mud room", so you can come and go without coming into the main house, unless you want to visit with us. You have a self-serve breakfast area in your room. If you would like to cook a more substantial meal, you are welcome to use our kitchen. Please speak with us first so we can arrange timing. We love to meet new people and share ideas about restaurants, walks, and fun outings in Woodstock and the Upper Valley. We also understand that sometimes weary travelers prefer not to interact much with hosts, and we honor that as well - it's up to you! Taftsville village is part of historic Woodstock, a shire town famed for its picturesque beauty. Taftsville is three miles south of the Woodstock green and its fine restaurants, galleries, antique stores, library, movie theater and shopping. We are also only twenty-five minutes west of Hanover, including Dartmouth College with its museums and theaters. The Taftsville Trails are right out our back door, offering walking, running, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. While only 1/4 mile from Route 4, we live on a dirt road also great for walking, running and biking. In summer, our flower gardens are in bloom and there are blueberries and raspberries for the picking. In winter Killington Mountain is 25 minutes west on Route 4 and there are other ski areas closer to us including Suicide Six and Quechee. In Fall, the colors along the backroads and River Road are spectacular. Recently reconstructed Taftsville Covered Bridge, just a quarter mile away, is one of the most photographed places in Vermont. The Appalachian Trail is only a few miles away. Parking is included. Woodstock Village is accessible by bike, about a 30 minute ride each way.
