The space Our cabin is a quiet and fun getaway. The 2 bedroom & 1 bath cabin is furnished with vintage and western furniture. King and queen size beds, and a single roll away easily accomodate guests. Wood decks on the front and rear of the cabin offer a great place to enjoy the views, read or have supper. There's an outdoor shower for after the lake or au natural. Views from the rear deck are to the Northwest of the San Juan Mountains and Southwest to the lake. Beautiful sunsets! The cabin is located on 2 acres. Arboles is about halfway between Durango (30 min away) and Pagosa Springs (30 min away). Arboles is next to Navajo Lake State Park. You won't find a lot of commercial activity in Arboles, it is tiny. It is a very quiet and private area with under 500 residents. There's a gas station and quick shop, bar & grill, and the post office. The name Arboles is Spanish for 'Trees'. With Navajo Lake so close, boating and fishing are a natural. The Navajo dam was constructed in 1962 for irrigation water for the Navajo Indian Reservation. To this day, the area remains unpolluted and sparsely populated. The state park website is really helpful, type in Navajo State Park Colorado. There are hiking trails along portions of the lake and nearby in the San Juan National Forest. Find out more about the forest at (URL HIDDEN) Chimney Rock National Monument and is about 10 miles away. It is one of the many Ancestral Puebloan sites close to the cabin. See the website for Chimney Rock. Mesa Verde National Park is just outside of Durango. It is famous for its Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings. See the website for National Parks, Mesa Verde. Lots of hot springs in this area of Colorado, The Springs in Pagosa Springs and Trimble Hot Springs in Durango. Skiing can be found at Durango Mountain Resort or Wolf Creek both about an hour away, and Telluride ski resort is @ 3 hours away. If you want to go 'to town', try 3 great places close by - Ignacio to the West about 18 miles, a quaint small town and capital of the Southern Ute Indian Reservation. Do not miss the Southern Ute Cultural Center & Museum, a beautiful and informative place. Up for gambling? Try Sky Ute Casino. The Patio restaurant is a local standard. Durango, @ 30 miles to the West, look for activities on the town website. This town offers a lot of entertainment, cultural, shopping and restaurants. Recently named as one of Smithsonian Magazine's Top 20 Small Towns in the U.S. There are hiking and biking trails, and river rafting. The narrow gauge train travels to Silverton in the Continental Divide mountains. The town website will list local events of which there are plenty! Pagosa Springs @ 30 miles to the East. The Pagosa website lists events for this town. Pagosa is a quaint village with hot springs, small shops & restaurants, and views. Look for local events and hot air balloon launches. Try Kips Grill & Cantina for local character. Pagosa is a perfect launch spot for daytrips in the mountains, Wolfcreek, Creede, Williams Lake and the Weminuche Wilderness.
