Description

A very special self catering cottage in the heart of Royal Deeside. Quietly sitting in the grounds of our 1830's Manse, this Steading has been newly converted into a 2 bedroomed, warm, comfortable and cosy sanctuary. Tucked away, this cosy Coo Hoose is well equipped with a stylish interior. Curl up on the sofa in front of the roaring log fire. A home from home. Family friendly accommodation where children of all ages are welcome.Open plan living space with a contemporary feel throughout. The space ~ Kitchen & Dining The Coo Hoose has an open plan kitchen so you can chat and enjoy company or watch children play. A well equipped kitchen with everything you will need to provide some delicious food for your guests. A large Oak table with funky Panton Chairs, seats 8. There are some complimentary condiments and tea, coffee and sugar for a cup of something on arrival. ~ Sleep The Coo Hoose has two bedrooms, a twin and a king. The comfortable king size bed provides you with the best night sleep and if you are an early riser roe deer can be seen in the morning and at dusk, especially during the colder months. Food is provided to feed and encourage these shy, beautiful animals. White company bedding, Faux fur throws and wool blankets make sure you are extra cosy. All bed linen is from the White Company with Timerous Beasties cushions in the twin room which adds a woodland twist. A bathroom is equipped with an enormous shower and for those who like to have a long soak in a bath there is an old style bath tub in the master bedroom. Extra camp beds can be provided to accommadate little people. ~ Relax A large leather sofa and two leather tub chairs in front of the wood burner make a wonderful place to enjoy a book, paper or watch a film. So comfortable with faux fur rugs for extra coziness. Borrow a book from the small library or plan your next outing with maps and guides to help. Small selection of board games helps a rainy day. Guest access ~ The Garden The private garden is filled with wildlife and is a twitchers paradise. Hear owls at night, wood peckers in the spring, with roe deer and red squirrels often visiting. The patio is a sun trap, generously supplied with sun loungers, BBQ, chairs and a table that seats 6 for summer lazing. A private drive leads to the cottage with plenty of parking. Other things to note ~ Cooks & Foodies For those who like to cook, the Award wining Cairnton Farm can supply some of their delicious beef and they are happy to take orders to be delivered on arrival. A list of all the products can be sent on request. We also offer the option of ordering a breakfast basket full of goodies, local organic eggs, free range Ingrams sausages and bacon (supplied by Cairnton Farm) or you can take an easy option and have breakfast at Spider On A Bicycle in Station Square where the girls open at 7.30. There is a Farmers Market at Ballater each month and the Highland Bakehouse is your local Artisan Baker at Crathes, they bake the most fantastic bread, croissants and regional Aberdeenshire breakfast roll the Buttery! Honesty box and bread supplies next to the Primary school. The Deeside Deli at Ballater have a superb selection of cheese, charcuterie with fresh vegetables and preserves. They also have home made prepared evening meals for an easy supper. Catch a Fish van that travels about Deeside delivering fresh fish straight from the sea from Harbours at Johnshaven and Gordon. There is a small Co-op in the village but Tesco, Morrison and Asda all deliver to the door. The Finzean Farm shop has an amazing selection of local and Scottish produce and a very fine restaurant for a late breakfast or for lunch. The water is so good no need for any bottled water but the Queen Mother’s favourite water from Deeside will be a sweet and refreshing treat if you forget your water bottle out and about. Aboyne has a well stocked Co-op and at George Strachan, a recently refurbished general store, one can find anything from a simple plug to a fine selection of Scottish produce, including a fabulous collection of Malt Whiskies. In the Old Station Square is a locally famous butcher, John Troup, who stocks a fine selection of local beef and game. ~ Eating Out & Evening Meals As you are on holiday take advantage of some great places to eat, Upper Deeside offer some wonderful eating establishments. For special occasions there is the Rothesay Rooms in Ballater, set up by Prince Charles ( with a very good reasonable taxi service ) The soon to be re-opened Darroch Learg Hotel. There is a award winning Indian on the Green in Ballater for a great curry. More local The Boat Inn in Aboyne has some great all day pub grub and try Potach restaurant on the way to Banchory.
